27-year-old Steven Hong was charged with one count of murder for the brutal assault that left 24-year-old Albert Song brain dead. Song, a West Point graduate and U.S. Army Ranger, was out with friends at the Icon Ultra Lounge when he was punched, knocked unconscious, and then kicked by several suspects while on the dance floor.
Meanwhile, police are asking for the public's help in finding a second suspect, Luan Thin Lam, in connection with Song's death: Second attacker sought in beating death of Army Ranger.
Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Luan Thin Lam, who police say along with Steve Hong, 27, beat to death 24-year-old Albert Song inside ICON Club in downtown L.A. in June.Anyone with information on Luan Thin Lam's whereabouts is asked to call detectives Chung or Putnam of the Los Angeles Police Department's central homicide division at (213) 972-1203 or 1-877-LAPD-247.
According to police, just before 2 a.m. on June 2, Song was with a group of friends inside the club when he was knocked down by a punch then pummeled by several people.
Song had recently finished Army Ranger school and was a West Point graduate who earned the rank of 1st lieutenant and was stationed in Honolulu, according to an LAPD statement. Police said Song hadn't provoked the attack.
