This is incredibly tragic. In New York, a pregnant woman was killed when she was struck in the head by a falling tree: Pregnant woman Yingyi Li-Dikov dies after falling tree crashes onto her in Kissena park.
30-year-old Yingyi Li-Dikov, who was six months pregnant, was sitting on a bench at Kissena Park in Flushing when an uprooted oak tree fell and crushed her head and body. She was declared dead at the hospital:
The incident happened Sunday evening as Yingyi Li-Dikov, who was six months pregnant, was sitting on a bench in Kissena Park, the New York Daily News reported.According to fire officials, another woman suffered minor injuries and refused treatment. The tree was 70 years old, and was located in an area of the park that was reportedly last inspected in June. Obviously, with a death involved, somebody's going to have to answer for the state of that tree.
"There was a loud crack and a screeching sound," said witness John Pace, 49. "By the time I walked over to look, I saw the tree fell right into the bench where this woman was sitting. I couldn't believe it."
Li-Dikov, 30, was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead on arrival, officials said.
