Good news for Fresh Off The Boat fans. Looks like we'll be doing lots more nineties nostalgia and Asian American family laughs with the Huang. ABC has officially picked up Fresh Off The Boat for a third season.
'Once Upon a Time,' 'The Goldbergs,' 'Fresh Off the Boat' and 'Quantico' renewed at ABC
ABC has picked up season three of Fresh Off The Boat, along with renewals for Once Upon a Time, The Goldbergs and Quantico. Word on the street has it that Fresh Off The Boat is getting renewed for a full twenty-two episode order right out of the gate. Boom.
Fresh Off The Boat earned respectable ratings in its second season, despite holding down an extremely competitive Tuesday time slot on one of ABC's weakest nights. The show kicked off the season following The Muppets, but switched slots in midseason to serve as the night's lead-in.
Inspired by the memoirs of renegate chef/restaurateur Eddie Huang, Fresh Off The Boat tells the story of the Huang family, a Taiwanese American family getting their immigrant hustle on in suburban Orlando, in pursuit of the American dream. The single-camera comedy, executive produced by Nahnatchka Khan and Melvin Mar, stars Randall Park, Constance Wu, Hudson Yang, Forrest Wheeler, Ian Chen and Chelsea Crisp.
The renewal makes Fresh Off The Boat one of the first shows with a guaranteed return for the 2016-17 season. ABC typically waits until just before the May upfronts to announce most of its new and returning shows.
Looking forward to seeing more Huang hijinks on the tube.
