First Chinese player to be drafted chosen by Islanders
18-year-old Andong Song, who was born in Beijing and moved to Canada with his family when he was 10, was selected by the Islanders in the sixth round with the 172nd pick.
The 6-foot, 161-pound defenseman, who was assistant captain with the varsity team at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, had three goals and seven assists in 26 games. Next year, he'll play at Phillips Andover Academy as a postgraduate. After that, he expects to play college hockey.
