florence pan recommended for d.c. superior court

This news a couple of weeks old, but it's still pretty significant. Last month, it was announced that Florence Pan, Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, is on the short list with two other candidates recommended to President Barack Obama to fill a judicial vacancy on the D.C. Superior Court: Three Persons Recommended For Superior Court Vacancy.

If selected, Pan will be the first ever Asian American superior court judge in Washington D.C. There's never actually been an Asian American judge -- in either the district court or superior court -- in D.C. history. The President has sixty days to select a nominee to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Linda D. Turner. (Thanks, Patricia.)
