This recent Huffington Post piece by Anis Shivani has a bone to pick with today's literary critics, saying that most of the stuff people are calling great lit these days is actually rather mediocre. Thus, he has compiled a list of The 15 Most Overrated Contemporary American Writers.
Making the list -- perhaps not surprisingly -- are much-lauded authors Amy Tan ("Mothers and Daughters and Dirty Laundry") and Jhumpa Lahiri ("Nationalities and Meritocracies"). Can't wait to see what books make the list of underrated American writers.
