aaww presents open city: blogging urban change

Hey. Just wanted to let you know that The Asian American Writers' Workshop recently launched Open City: Blogging Urban Change, an interdisciplinary, multimedia project that records the oral histories of Chinatown, Flushing, and Sunset Park residents.

Five commissioned writers, called Organizing Fellows, are working with community organizations and neighborhood folks in Manhattan's Chinatown/Lower East Side, Flushing, Queens, and Sunset Park, Brooklyn to collect oral histories and interviews, offer commentary about gentrification, neighborhood change, and produce new creative work around these themes.

The Organizing Fellows are Cristiana Baik, Jerome Chou, Deanna Fei, Peggy Lee, and Sahar Muradi. For more information about the project, you can follow their progress on the Open City blog, where you can read about all sorts of different creative responses to neighborhood change.
