fake criterion: the fast and the furious: tokyo drift

As DVD collectors know, the Criterion Collection is sort of the elite standard for film aficionados, distributing important classic and contemporary films in artful, tastefully-produced editions. If your movie makes it as a Criterion release, you've joined the ranks of snooty, essential cinema.

That said, there are some movies that will never make it into the Criterion Collection. But Fake Criterion imagines what those titles might look like. For example, the imaginary Criterion release of Justin Lin's The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, above. Not to knock that movie too much -- Justin's a friend -- but essential cinema, it ain't.

But if the day should come when film historians look back 2006 and regard Tokyo Drift as an overlooked cinema treasure, I'll be the first in line to buy this edition.
