mr. hyphen 2011, november 5

It is on, Bay Area. Our friends at Hyphen present the sixth annual Mr. Hyphen, a one-of-a-kind pageant celebrating Asian American men who devote themselves to worthy community causes. The man crowned Mr. Hyphen will win a cash donation of $1,000 for his chosen nonprofit organization.

It's happening Saturday, November 5 at the Brava! Theater in San Francisco. Here are some more details about the evening:

Our esteemed panel of judges features:

- Wajahat Ali, a noted blogger and writer from The Huffington Post
- Jane Kim, San Francisco Supervisor
- Maveric Vu a.k.a. Lychee Minnelli, Ms. GAPA 2011
- Lanlian Szeto, Hyphen events manager emeritus (!)

Guest performances by:

- Ground-shaking hip hop dance group Wildcard and SF choreographer Amber Divina
- Belly-aching SF comedian, Mark Zhang, a.k.a. the American Zhangster

Designers and stylists to jazz up our finalists include:

- Fresh casual streetwear by Bok Choy Apparel
- Funky and fun retro stylings by Retrofit Republic
- Vintage inspired deconstructed menswear by Estrella Tadeo
