4th Asian Woman Attacked, Cops Release New Video Of Same Suspect
In each of the attacks, which have all occurred in Manhattan, the man approached his victims, hit them in the face with a plastic bag containing a hard object, and ran off. All of the victims have been Asian women.
The latest attack was reported on Monday in Chinatown, when the suspect tried to strike up a conversation with a 41-year-old woman on Mulberry Street. The woman ignored him and he left, but he later returned and "struck her in the face with a gray bag containing a hard object" before running away.
Here's a clearer view of the suspect from yesterday's incident:
Hey, NYPD. Are we calling this a hate crime yet? This guy is definitely targeting Asian women.
According to the 34-year-old woman who was attacked last week on the Upper East Side, he seemed "normal" when he first approached her, but he expressed frustration that Asian women wouldn't talk to him.
"He said, 'All Asian girls doesn't talk to me.' He can never get their phone number. I just ignore him. I didn't say anything," she said. "And then, just after next second, he just hit my face."
The woman tried to chase the assailant, but stopped when she realized there was blood rushing down her face. She suffered a gash above her eye that needed ten stitches.
