abandoned, but not alone

Jennifer 8. Lee has a really great New York Times story that's not about Chinese food: When a Surrogate Family Improves on the Original. She tells the story of 18-year-old Jun Chen, who was essentially abandoned by her father when he packed up and moved back to China without her.

But Jun has found a new family at the Edgies Teen Center at the Education Alliance, a beneficiary of UJA-Federation New York, one of the seven agencies supported by the New York Times Neediest Cases Fund.

Her Edgies family has helped her survive after her father left, helping with food, rent and school supplies. It's a pretty cool story... and maybe you can help too, by donating to the Neediest Cases Fund. Read the article to find out more.
