uc berkeley student fatally shot

I've heard from several folks about this fatal shooting that happened at a Korean bar in Oakland last weekend... 22-year-old Vincent Choi, who was set to graduate from UC Berkeley in May, was shot and killed after a bar dispute turned violent: UC Berkeley Senior Fatally Shot in Oakland.

Choi and his friends were apparently involved in a verbal altercation with a group of seven men and four women. The group allegedly left the bar and waited outside for Choi and his friends to leave. When they came out, there was a fight, and someone started shooting.

What the hell? I'm assuming that the other group was also Korean. Why do I always have to read about Asians starting shit with each other at bars, and then somebody ending up shot? This hits home because I actually have friends who actually go this particular bar on occasion.

More on the shooting here: UC Berkeley student identified as Oakland slaying victim. There are currently no suspects, but the bar apparently had security cameras that were submitted to the police department.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $20,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the gunman. Anyone with information can call police at 510 238-3821 or Crime Stoppers at 510 777-8572 or 510 777-3211.
