University police say eight Asian students were walking to a dorm on the Bloomington campus early Sunday moring when five black males and three black females approached them, using "anti-Chinese words." Words were exchanged between parties, and it turned into a fight:
More here: Students Report Robbery, Assault In Racially-Charged Encounter. Four of the students were assaulted or robbed, and one was treated at the hospital for facial injuries. According to police, the attackers stole an iPad, an iPod, two sets of head phones, and a cell phone.
"Eight Asian students were walking to Forest Quad B Tower when a group of five males and three females said, 'Hey look, here comes Chinatown. Look at all the chinks,'" Cash said in a news release.
Police said the two groups got into a verbal exchange before three or four of the blacks walked toward the Asians, battering two of them and robbing two more.
