40th Asian American International Film Festival

Presented by Asian CineVision, July 25 - August 5



New Yooooork! New York film fans, this one's for you. The 40th Asian American International Film Festival, presented by Asian CineVision, is going down this week! As the nation's first and longest running Asian-interest film festival, AAIFF40 will present 20 feature films and 63 short films representing 18 countries. Screenings will be held at Cinema Village East and Asia Society in Manhattan, July 26 - August 5.

New York film fans! This one's for you. The 39th Asian American International Film Festival, presented by Asian CineVision, is going down July 21-30 at various venues in Manhattan and Flushing. As the nation's oldest and longest-running Asian-interest film festival, AAIFF 2016 is a ten-day celebration of inspiring Asian and Asian American works in film and video by innovative artists from around the world.

Hey, filmmakers! Asian CineVision is putting out the call for entries for the 39th Asian American International Film Festival, happening July 21-30 in New York City. They're seeking narrative and documentary features, short films, youth films, music videos, works-in-progress and screenplay competition submissions.

New York City! Make some plans, because the Awesome Asian Bad Guys are coming to get you.

Next week, National Film Society's action/comedy webseries makes its East Coast premiere as part of Asian CineVision's Asian American International Film Festival. It will screen on Friday, July 25, 6:00pm at City Cinema Village East and Saturday, July 26, 2:00pm at the Made in NY Media Center by IFP.

Filmmaking duo Stephen Dypiangco and Patrick Epino direct and star as Stephen and Patrick, down-and-out filmmakers who must recruit an unlikely team of Asian American heroes -- a motley crew that includes Al Leong, Yuji Okumoto, Tamlyn Tomita, George Cheung and Randall Park -- to take down a ruthless crime lord. The series is an homage to your favorite nameless Asian movie character actors of the 1980s and 90s.

37th Asian American International Film Festival

July 24 - August 2 in New York City



New York film fans! Here's what's up. Mark your calendars, because the 37th Asian American International Film Festival, presented by Asian CineVision, will soon be upon us. AAIFF is the nation's longest running festival of its kind and the premier showcase for the best in independent Asian and Asian American cinema. This year's lineup includes a total of 18 features and 33 shorts, ranging over 21 countries and regions.

The festivities kick off on July 24 with the Opening Night Gala screening of the documentary Sold at Asia Society, and continues through August 2 at venues throughout New York City. Here's a sampling of some of the festival's spotlight presentations:

AAIFF Screenplay Reading: The Chinese Delivery Man, August 1



If you're in New York, check out this special table read of Isaac Ho's The Chinese Delivery Man, winner of the 2013 Asian American International Screenplay Competition, co-hosted by Asian American Film Lab, Asian CineVision and the A/P/A Institute at New York University. It's happening Thursday, August 1 at NYU.

Chosen by jurors from over thirty scripts submitted to the competition this year, The Chinese Delivery Man is inspired by the true life murders of Chinese delivery men in New York City. The reading will be conducted in an "Unfinished Works" style, which will allow the audience to participate directly in the creative process.

AAIFF'13 Panel Discussion: Where are the Asian Women in Film? July 30



Short notice, but if you're in New York, the Asian American International Film Festival is co-hosting a special panel with the Museum of Chinese America: Where are the Asian Women in Film? with director Nadine Truong, actor/producer Di Quon, director/professor Christine Choy and filmmaker/moderator S. Linsanity documentary opening in theaters on October 4



Linsanity is back! And it's coming to a theater near you. Linsanity, the movie, that is. Director Evan Leong's feature documentary, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, officially has theatrical distribution -- and a release date: Jeremy Lin's 'Linsanity' Documentary Gets Distribution.

This announcement was a long time coming. The documentary, which recounts the amazing, against-the-odds rise of NBA star Jeremy Lin, will be released on October 4 in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and 10 to 15 other cities from Ketchup Entertainment.

Linsanity returns to New York City for AAIFF'13



Next month, Linsanity makes its triumphant return to New York City. I'm talking about Linsanity, the documentary, which will have its New York premiere as the Opening Night presentation of the 36th Asian American International Film Festival on July 24 at the Asia Society's Lila Wallace Acheson Theatre.

The film, directed by Evan Jackson Leong, retells the awesome story of Jeremy Lin's stunning and unlikely rise to NBA stardom. Remember that? Yeah, that was awesome. Catch Linsanity in the city where it all started before the film hits the road for its theatrical release in the fall.

AAIFF'13 Feature Screenplay Writing Competition



Hey, screenwriters! Got a script you want to share with the world? The Asian American Film Lab, Asian CineVision and the Museum of Chinese in America are hosting a screenwriting competition as part of the 36th Annual Asian American International Film Festival in New York City.

The winner will receive a directed reading by Asian American Film Lab Actor Directory actors and feedback from the audience at the Museum of Chinese in America during AAIFF'13 on August 1. Here are some general guidelines for competition:
