Movies You Should Watch If We Want To Be Friends

Guest Post by An Rong Xu

Our obsession with cinema is at an all time high, with hoards of people headed to theaters to watch films, folks sharing Netflix subscriptions, and trying to find that film that speaks to you. Well, I'm here to share with you some of my favorite films that have inspired me, made me cry, had me contemplating the meaning of life, and aspiring to make something that one day has as much meaning to others as these following films have to me.

So if you want to be friends, talk about films over some pu-er tea and cookies, let's do it.

My Favorite Asian American Photographers

Guest Post by An Rong Xu

I'm on vacation! This week, I'm taking a much-needed break to recharge the batteries and get a change of scenery. To keep things going around here, I've enlisted the help of several friends of the blog to submit guest posts on various topics of their choosing. Here's one from photographer and filmmaker An Rong Xu.

Hi all, this is An Rong Xu, I'm a photographer, and film maker based in New York City. I'm a big believer in sharing, so I'm going to share with you, a few of my favorite Asian American Photographers, as well as why I love them.

Full disclosure: a few of them are good friends of mine. Also, these are my own views and opinions, so if you have any questions, comments, or want to tell me about the next great talent, holla at your boy.

fund this: grandpa by an rong xu

Um, okay. I was going to write a little something urging you to make a pledge to An Rong Xu and the Kickstarter campaign for his photography project, Grandpa. But I blinked, and the next thing you know, the dude has already surpassed this $2,000 goal. Practically overnight!

So I'll just tell you about it. In February, An Rong will be presenting his first solo photography show with work honoring his late grandfather. So he's raising funds to print, frame, hang and catalog the show. Watch this video to see some of his amazing photos:
