10th Anniversary Screening: Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

Los Angeles movie fans, mark your calendars. Next month, the Big Trouble in Little Tokyo film series presents a special 10th anniversary screening of 2006's The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, followed by a discussion with the cast and crew. Revisit the film expanded the Fast universe and brought Justin Lin to the blockbuster franchise. It's happening Thursday, February 4 at the Japanese American National Museum.

10th Anniversary Screening of 'The Motel'

Los Angeles film fans! This is a good one. The community film series Big Trouble in Little Tokyo is proud to present a special ten-year anniversary screening of the 2005 indie coming-of-age dramedy The Motel.

In The Motel, Jeffrey Chyau stars as thirteen-year-old Ernest Chin, who lives and works at his family's seedy hour-rate motel. Alienated from his family, Ernest befriends Sam Kim, a troubled yet charismatic Korean man who checks in to the motel and teaches the fatherless boy the rites of manhood.

Join writer/director Michael Kang, stars Sung Kang and Samantha Futerman, and producers Miguel Arteta and Gina Kown, as we reunite and revisit the hit Sundance feature, a decade later. It's happening Wednesday, September 9 at the Japanese American National Museum.

Big Trouble in Little Tokyo presents 'The Curse of Quon Gwon'

Wednesday, May 13 at the Japanese American National Museum



Los Angeles film fans! Make some plans to experience a unique piece of cinema history. "Big Trouble in Little Tokyo" presents The Curse of Quon Gwon: When the Far East Mingles with the West, a silent black and white film directed by Marion Wong. Produced circa 1916-17, The Curse of Quon Gwon is the earliest known film by an Asian American director, and one of the earliest works directed by a woman.

The evening will include a screening of the film, plus a talk with Mai-Lon Gittelsohn and Dr. Greg Mark, descendants of the film's star Violet Wong, and filmmaker Arthur Dong, who facilitated the restoration of the only known remaining portions of the historic film by the Academy Film Archive. It's happening Wednesday, May 13 at the Japanese American National Museum in Little Tokyo.

Big Trouble in Little Tokyo presents 'The Joy Luck Club'

New film series kicks off Wednesday, February 11 at the Japanese American National Museum



For all you movie fans in Los Angeles, join us next week for a special screening of 1993's The Joy Luck Club, kicking off a new film series called "Big Trouble in Little Tokyo," presented by the Japanese American National Museum in partnership with Angry Asian Man, First Pond Entertainment and Visual Communications.

It's happening Wednesday, January 11 at the Japanese American National Museum in Little Tokyo. The evening will begin with a light reception at 6:00pm, followed by the screening at 7:00pm, and a Q&A with director Wayne Wang and additional panelists (to be determined).
