Meet the Worst Tutor in the World

Ex-tutor Timothy Lai faces multiple felony charges for orchestrating a high school grade-changing scheme.



Asians behaving badly... grade-changing, cheating tutor edition! In Orange County, a former tutor is facing felony charges for hacking a teacher's computer to help a group of high school students change their grades.

Tutor accused of hacking school computers faces 16 more felony charges

29-year-old Timothy Lance Lai is accused of breaking into Corona del Mar High, while working as a private tutor, to place a keystroke-logging device on the back of a teacher's computer. With that information, Lai allegedly accessed the school's network to change several students' grades on multiple occasions in 2013.

The school district and police launched an investigation into the cheating after a teacher discovered that student grades had been changed. After interviews with students, it wasn't long before Lai's name came up.

Hacker gets prison time for trying to change MCAT score

Asians behaving badly... MCAT hacker edition! In Virginia, a wannabe medical student was sentenced to three months in prison for hacking into the Association of American Medical Colleges computer system in an attempt to modify his lackluster scores on the Medical College Admission Test.

It's clear that 24-year-old Bosung Shim realllllly wanted to get into medical school. He'll be going to prison instead. Shim was sentenced to three months behind bars after pleading guilty to trying to hack into computer systems of the AAMC and the University of Michigan to give himself higher scores and grades. When that didn't work, dude hired other hackers to help him.

The computer crimes were apparently just the latest in several schemes Shim hatched to improve his med school prospects, including creating fake college transcripts, recommendation letters and diplomas:

U.S. speed skater suspended two years for skate tampering

Simon Cho will not be eligible to compete at the Sochi Olympics.



You did the crime. You must do the time. U.S. Olympic short track medalist Simon Cho has received a two-year suspension from the International Skating Union after admitting he tampered with the skates of a Canadian rival: Simon Cho Suspended: Olympian Gets Two-Year Ban For Skate Tampering.

Cho came clean last October, confessing that he sabotaged the skates of Canada's Olivier Jean during the 2011 World Team Championship in Warsaw, taking them out of the competition. Cho claims that he was acting under pressure from former short track national coach Jae Su Chun.

The two-year suspension, announced by U.S. Speedskating, runs through October 4, 2014, which will take Cho out of eligibility to compete for the American short track team at the Sochi Olympics.
