New music from one of the best damn live bands in the land... Brooklyn-based dhol-and-brass Bhangra party squad Red Baraat, led by Sunny Jain, recently released a free (pay what you want) new five-song EP Livewire, recorded live in-studio earlier this year at KEXP in Seattle. One of the tracks, "Gaadi of Truth," from the album of the same name, features Stewart Copeland of The Police.

Awwwwww yeah. I am seriously digging Gaadi of Truth, the brand-new album that just dropped from Brooklyn-based brass-and-beats band Red Baraat. It is one hell of a jam. With founder and bandleader Sunny Jain rocking the dhol, the new record expands the band's multicultural Bhangra boogie down sound into new directions, with electronic, hip hop and other influences.

What Happens When 350 Musicians Meet For The First Time In Brooklyn?

To celebrate the annual Make Music New York festival, NPR Music commissioned a new piece, "100+ BPM" by Sunny Jain or Red Baraat, and invited musicians to turn it up and take part in a massive, marching-band-style world premiere. About 350 people showed up, instruments in hand, on the library ".

Musicians of New York City! You are invited to take part in a big-ass jam this Saturday, right out on the steps of the Brooklyn Public Library. For this year's edition of Make Music New York, NPR commissioned Sunny Jain, founder of Red Baraat, to write a new song that would kick off the season in massive, marching-band style.

The result: "100+ BPM." And they need you to help turn it up. They're inviting all wind, brass and percussionists -- individuals and ensembles, amateur, student or professional -- to join in the world-premiere performance. It's happening Saturday, June 21 at the Brooklyn Public Library.
