First look at the new 'Rush Hour' TV series

CBS action/drama/comedy re-imagines hit Jackie Chan/Chris Tucker movie franchise.



CBS recently released the first trailer for its upcoming Rush Hour TV series, based on the mega-popular Jackie Chan/Chris Tucker movie franchise of the same name. For the small screen adaptation, the one-hour action drama comedy stars Jon Foo and Justin Hires as by-the-book Hong Kong detective and a maverick LAPD detective who knock heads they they are forced to partner together.

Okay, before you freak the frick out about this unholy cinematic union, know that this weirdly hilarious premise is a Funny or Die parody trailer. Hey, might as well combine two spoofs in one. Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker and John Travolta and Nicholas Cage won't know what they're missing.

Some TV news... So that Rush Hour TV series is still a go. CBS greenlit the pilot, based on the hit Jackie Chan/Chris Tucker movie franchise, and now the adaptation has a lead actor: Jon Foo as Detective Lee.

The Rush Hour pilot, written/executive produced by Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick and directed/executive produced by Jon Turteltaub, centers on Lee, a by-the-book Hong Kong police officer assigned to a case in Los Angeles, where he's forced to work with Carter, a cocky LAPD officer who has no interest in a partner.

Hilarity and action ensue.

Noooooooooo. Okay, so Rush Hour has to be the last movie I'd want to see adapted as a television show... but alas, sometime shit happens. CBS has ordered a pilot for a series based on the blockbuster movie franchise.

'Rush Hour' Series Lands At CBS With Pilot Production Commitment

According to Deadline, the hour-long action/comedy series adaptation will be written/executive produced by Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick and executive produced by Brett Ratner and producer Arthur Sarkissian.

The show will stay close to the movies' premise, which paired a by-the-book Hong Kong cop with a cocky black LAPD officer who want nothing to do with each other. I am fairly certain the movies' original stars, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, will not have anything to do with the show.
