westminster city councilman charged with drunk driving

Asian behaving badly... drunk driving politician edition! Last week, Westminster City Councilman Andy Quach was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after hitting a car then crashing his car into a pole, knocking out power to more than 300 homes: Westminster city councilman hit another car before crashing into pole.

No one was injured in either crash, but several hundred of Quach's constituents were without power for the better part of the next day. I'm guessing he wasn't such a popular guy in the neighborhood last weekend: Councilman hit another car before crashing into pole, police say.

Quach was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence after a blood test revealed that Quach had more than a 0.26 blood alcohol level: Westminster councilman charged with driving under the influence.

He was also charged with one misdemeanor count of driving with a blood alcohol level over 0.08% and a sentencing enhancement for having a blood alcohol level over 0.20% while driving. More here: Councilman charged with DUI, blood alcohol of 0.26%.

To make matters worse, police say California State Assemblyman Van Tran arrived at the scene of Quach's accident, and was apparently so disruptive that a sergeant had to threaten him with arrest to get him to stay away: Police say Assemblyman Van Tran disrupted DUI investigation.

What a mess. So what does this mean for the councilman's political future? That remains to be seen: Westminster councilman's political future uncertain. Not to mention that this isn't Quach's first strike: More problems endanger Quach's political future.
