Trump Claims Asian Americans Are Angry at 'What China Has Done' to U.S.
Having somehow spoken to every Asian person in the United States of America, Donald Trump claims that Asian Americans are angry at China for its handling of the pandemic. "Asian Americans are VERY angry at what China has done to our Country, and the World," Trump wrote on Twitter. "Chinese Americans are the most angry of all. I don't blame them!" No, we blame you. I can barely form words to express how angry this tweet makes me. I can say that, yes, Asian Americans are angry. We are angry at the steady stream of bullshit and incompetence coming from Trump and the White House and we've had enough.

Singer Bryan Adams Blames 'Bat Eating' People for Coronavirus
In other social media nonsense, singer Bryan Adams is under fire for posting a bizarre rant in which he blamed "bat eating" people for the coronavirus. "Tonight was supposed to be the beginning of a tenancy of gigs at the @royalalberthall, but thanks to some fucking bat eating, wet market animal selling, virus making greedy bastards, the whole world is now on hold, not to mention the thousands that have suffered or died from this virus," Adams wrote on Instagram and Twitter Tuesday, alongside a video of him performing his song "Cuts Like a Knife." He has since deleted the posts. But we will remember this, Bryan, like the summer of '69.

Small Plane Pulling Banner with "Chinese Virus" Flies Over San Antonio
Some people take their racism to new heights. On Monday, a small plane pulling a banner that read "Say Chinese Virus.com" was seen flying over the skies of San Antonio. Good ol' San Antonio, where a group gathered to protest a resolution unanimously approved by the San Antonio City Council last week condemning racism and hate speech and the use of words like "Chinese virus" to describe COVID-19. Because some people thinking aggressively calling it the "Chinese virus" is really going to stick it to China.

Kung Fu Reboot Moves Forward with Series Order at The CW
The CW has given a series order to the modern day, gender-swapped reboot of Kung Fu, starring Olivia Liang. "A quarter-life crisis causes a young Chinese-American woman (Liang) to drop out of college and go on a life-changing journey to an isolated monastery in China. But when she returns to find her hometown overrun with crime and corruption, she uses her martial arts skills and Shaolin values to protect her community and bring criminals to justice...all while searching for the assassin who killed her Shaolin mentor and is now targeting her."

Covid-19 Convos: Rising Above Bullying and Hate 
Since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, anti-Chinese and anti-Asian sentiment have been on the rise. Amid the crisis, many individuals of Asian descent has been victims of bullying and hate. Act To Change presents a virtual conversation to share ways in which parents, educators, students, and community members can all come together to protect the Asian American and Pacific Islander community from discrimination. Speakers will include Maulik Pancholy, Congresswoman Grace Meng, Dr. Vivek Murthy and Hudson Yang. It's happening this Friday, April 3 at 1-2pm ET.

"You caused coronavirus, bitch!"
A group of teens attacked an Asian woman on a city bus in The Bronx, blaming her for the coronavirus. According to police, three teens approached the 51-year-old victim on the bus near Ogden Avenue and West 166th Street on Saturday afternoon, screaming anti-Asian slurs, then hitting the the Asian woman in the head with an umbrella. One of the attackers reportedly yelled, "You caused coronavirus bitch!" The victim was taken to the hospital, where she received stitches on her head. The three teens were arrested and charged with hate crime assault and aggravated harassment.

CBS Journalist Maria Mercader Dies at 54 of Coronavirus
CBS News producer and talent executive Maria Mercader, who had a hand in much of the network's coverage of foreign and domestic breaking news for three decades, died Sunday from the Covid-19 coronavirus in a New York hospital. She was 54.

Kona Kitchen Owner and Her Husband Have Died from COVID-19
The Seattle restaurant community was stunned last week when Elizabeth Mar, 72, the well-known owner of popular Hawaiian mainstay, Kona Kitchen, died from COVID-19. In a heartbreaking turn, her husband Robert, 78, died just a day later of the same disease. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this coming August.

AAPI Day Against Bullying and Hate, May 18

On Vincent Chin's birthday, and everyday, stand up against bullying and hate.



Act To Change, a national nonprofit dedicated to ending bullying in the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, is mobilizing the nation around the first-ever AAPI Day Against Bullying and Hate, this Saturday, May 18 -- the birthday of Vincent Chin, who was beaten to death in a hate crime in 1982.

To declare this day, cities and other municipalities across the country have issued proclamations, resolutions, and commendations. Act To Change is also partnering with influencers, elected officials, and other nonprofit organizations to help spread the word on social media.

This Saturday, the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, in partnership with the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (CAPE) and the Sikh Coalition, will host a live event as part of the "Act To Change" campaign on bullying prevention. The event will feature distinguished AAPI personalities, performers, and community leaders in an effort to raise awareness about how to take action against bullying.

Did you know that October is National Bullying Prevention Month? Today, the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, in partnership with the Sikh Coalition and the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment, is launching "Act To Change," a public awareness campaign to address bullying.

Backed by a diverse coalition of supporters, including media platforms (like this website) and national nonprofit organizations, the "Act To Change" campaign aims to empower AAPI youth, educators, and communities with information and tools to address and prevent bullying. It's time to talk about it and take stand. Act to Change.
