That's what I'm talking about. Over the weekend, Michelle Wie won the 2014 U.S. Women's Open. The 24-year-old from Hawaii finished with a two-shot victory over Stacy Lewis to claim her first major title.

It was a long time coming. Wie first made the cut at the 2003 U.S. Women's Open when she was 13 years old, amidst everyone trumpeting the young phenom as Golf's Next Big Thing. It's been a bit of a rocky road since then, but on Sunday at Pinehurst No. 2, Wie made good on that hype.

11-year-old golfer Lucy Li made history Thursday by becoming the youngest qualifier ever to play at the U.S. Women's Open. She was, hands down, the star of the tournament. And finished the day with some ice cream.

All eyes were on Lucy, as the sixth grader shot an 8-over 78 in the first round of the tournament at Pinehurst No. 2. Her score left her way behind the leader, two-time major winner and top-ranked Stacy Lewis, but Lucy reportedly played with poise, pigtails and all. She played like a pro.

Whoa. Meet Lucy Li. This week, the 11-year-old golfer from Redwood Shores, California made history by becoming the youngest player ever to qualify for the U.S. Women's Open. Eleven!

Eleven years old, and freaking awesome. Li, a sixth grader who began playing at the age of seven, qualified for 2014 U.S. Women's Open on Monday, shooting rounds of 74 and 68 on the par-72 Old Course at Half Moon Bay, and beating second-place qualifier Kathleen Scavo by seven strokes.

The record for youngest was previously held by Lexi Thompson, who qualified for the U.S. Women's Open -- at 12 years, 4 months, 18 days old -- in 2007. Li doesn't turn 12 until October 1.

Despite her age (and size) Lucy has apparently been making a habit of breaking records:

Please stop using the term "Chinaman."

Memo to sportscasters discussing 14-year-old Chinese golf phenom Tianlang Guan -- or anyone of Chinese descent, for that matter: please refrain from using the term "chinaman." I know you think this is okay, like it's the same as calling someone from France and Frenchman. I can see how you would think that. But "chinaman" is considered a derogatory term. I know you had no idea. But now you know.

That's what happened during the sports segment the other night on KLFY, the CBS affiliate in Lafayette, Louisiana, when sports anchor George Faust referred to the golfer as "14-year-old Chinaman Tianlang Guan": Louisiana TV Station Refers To Guan Tianlang As A "Chinaman."

At 14 years old, Chinese golfer Tianlang Guan is the youngest player ever to compete in the Masters. But he didn't show up at Augusta National merely to play. The eighth grader carded an impressive 1-over 73 in his opening round on Thursday: China's Tianlang Guan, 14, at 1 over.

But kid still has a few things to learn, according to one official. On Friday, after repeated reminders, Guan received a one-stroke penalty for slow play on the 17th hole -- a ruling that almost jeopardized his chances of making the cut: Tianlang Guan penalized for slow play at Masters.

Wow. Over the weekend, Chinese golfer Guan Tianlang of Guangzhou won the Asian Pacific Amateur Championship at the Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok, securing himself a invitation to the U.S. Masters in April. By the way, Guan is in the eighth grade: Guan Tianlang, 14, gets Masters shot.

At fourteen years and five months old, Guan will become the youngest ever to play in The Masters, a distinction previously held by Matteo Manassero of Italy at age 16. Could this kid be the "next big thing"?

What is up with Michelle Wie? This week, the young golf phenom skipped a major to play on the PGA Tour, which had a lot of her fellow competitors scratching their heads.

Wie skips a major, and some wonder why

Wie, who is managed by her parents, was listed in qualifying for the Women's British Open at Sunningdale. But she pulled out and instead has a sponsor's exemption for the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open at Reno, Nevada. She has yet to win on the women's tour and has never made the cut on the PGA Tour.

It's been a rough professional start for her, but lately she seems to be returning to form (scorecard mishap aside). I'm sure she has a lot of people giving her advice and telling her what to do... isn't anyone telling her she should concentrate on getting back in the game and winning?
