Ming-Na Wen joins the cast of The Mandalorian

'Agents of SHIELD' star will appear in the highly anticipated 'Star Wars' live action series.

From Deadline: Ming-Na Wen, already a Disney staple as the voice of Mulan in the iconic original animated film and as a star of ABC's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., has been confirmed as a cast member of The Mandalorian, the upcoming Star Wars universe series for Disney+.

Ming-Na Wen Joins Cast Of ‘The Mandalorian’, Securing Disney Franchise Trifecta

Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed the news Friday during D23 Expo, where Wen was one of the recipients of the annual Disney Legends honors. No word about her role in The Mandalorian -- the first live-action Star Wars series -- but if you ask me, they're wasting everybody's time if her character isn't at least a little bit badass.

But here's the first official trailer for The Mandalorian:

And so my fanboy love of Ming-Na Wen continues.

All right, fellow nerds. The wait is over. Marvel's Agents of SHIELD premieres tonight on ABC. The show follows of the adventures of the international law-enforcement organization introduced in the blockbuster movie The Avengers. Set in the same continuity as Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and the rest of the gang, this show is more about regular folks who populate the Marvel universe.

Agents of SHIELD, Mavels first television series, is from fan favorite executive producers, Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, who co-wrote the pilot episode. The cast includes Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, expert pilot and martial artist, and Chloe Bennet as Skye, a mysterious computer hacker.

A Joy Luck Club reunion

Whoa. A Joy Luck Club reunion! Came across this cool photo last week on producer Janet Yang's blog. Janet recently met up with Lauren Tom, Tamlyn Tomita, Ming Na and Rosalind Chao -- the "daughters" from The Joy Luck Club.

Can you believe next year marks the movie's twentieth anniversary? I know it has its share of detractors, for various reasons, but you can't deny that The Joy Luck Club was a significant moment in Asian American cinema.

And these ladies still look good.
