Marvel's Asian American superheroes team up... for karaoke?

Totally Awesome Hulk #15 is Marvel's most unapologetically Asian American comic book issue of all time.

This is a dire situation that needs the attention of Marvel Comics' greatest Asian American superheroes! Amadeus Cho -- aka The Totally Awesome Hulk -- Ms. Marvel, Silk, Shang Chi, Jimmy Woo and Jake Oh have answered the call to action and assembled... at a bone marrow donor registration drive?

That's the opening scene of Totally Awesome Hulk #15, which is not only totally awesome, but quite possibly the most unapologetically Asian American issue of a comic book that Marvel Comics has ever published.

Starting with that bone marrow donor drive. As you may know, ethnicity matters when searching for a life-saving bone marrow match, and unfortunately, Asian Americans are seriously underrepresented on the National Marrow Donor Registry. And now you know. You can thank writer Greg Pak for that.

Marvel's Most Epic Asian American Superhero Team-Up Ever

Greg Pak assembles Amadeus Cho, Ms. Marvel, Shang Chi, Silk and more in Totally Awesome Hulk #15.

Ms. Marvel! Shang Chi! Silk! Amadeus Cho! Has there ever been such an awesome assemblage of Asian American superheroes under the banner of Marvel Comics? Possibly probably not... until now.

Writer Greg Pak recently teased the upcoming cover of Totally Awesome Hulk #15, suggesting that this is the most significant grouping of Asian American superheroes that has ever starred in a mainstream comic book.

In Totally Awesome Hulk #15, kid genius Amadeus Cho -- aka The Hulk -- is slowly learning how to become a team player, but has to learn fast when Ms. Marvel, Shang Chi, Silk and a host of other heroes come to town.

Ms. Marvel Wants You to Go Vote Today!

Cross-Posted from The Nerds of Color.

Today is Election Day in the United States. And the choice couldn't be clearer for the millions of voters heading out to the polls. We're either going to wake up tomorrow playing R.E.M. or Beyoncé. Later this month, Marvel Comics will be releasing Ms. Marvel #13 in which the book's titular hero will be urging the citizens of the Marvel Universe to similarly exercise their inalienable rights to vote.

Ms. Marvel chooses a side in 'Civil War II'

Teaser image for Marvel Comics' crossover event shows Kamala Khan taking a stand against her namesake.

Daaaaamn. This awesome teaser image by artist Phil Noto for Marvel Comics' upcoming crossover event Civil War II features Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, tearing up a picture of her idol Captain Marvel.

When the superheroes of the Marvel Universe are forced to take sides in this summer's impending conflict, I think it's safe to assume that Kamala will not fall on the side of her namesake.

What would Ms. Marvel say to Donald Trump?

Marvel editor Sana Amanat talks comic books on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers.'

Nerd out with me. On Tuesday night, Marvel Comics editor Sana Amanat was a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she talked about creating a space for diverse and authentic characters that readers can relate to -- including the hugely popular current incarnation of Ms. Marvel, aka Pakistani American teen Kamala Khan, the first Muslim American character to headline her own own comic book. She is the coolest.

Here's a clip from the interview:

Anti-Islam bus ads are being awesomely defaced by Ms. Marvel

Marvel Comics' Kamala Khan battles bad guys and bus banner bigotry in San Francisco

Oh hell yes. This is awesome. In San Francisco, someone has been defacing a series of Islamophobic bus banner ads with images of Marvel Comics' teenage Muslim superhero Ms. Marvel.

Racist, Anti-Islamic San Francisco Bus Ads Have Been Awesomely Defaced With Kamala Khan

The "advertisements," paid for by an organization called the American Freedom Defense Initiative, have been plastered on the sides of several Muni buses with slogans likening Muslims to the Nazis.

Enter some badass, artistically-inclined citizens who took it upon themselves to modify these ridiculous ads with a call to stop the hate, starring superpowered Pakistani American comic book hero Kamala Khan, who battles bad guys (and now, bus banner bigotry) as Ms. Marvel.

Listen to Adam WarRock's "Marvelous" ode to your new favorite superhero

Free track inspired by Marvel Comics' Pakistani American teenage superhero

NICE. Our friend Eugene Ahn, aka geek emcee extraordinaire Adam WarRock, raps about comic books, television shows, and other pop culture goodness. This week, he's releasing a handful of free tracks inspired by All-New Marvel NOW! titles, and they're some of the best songs he's done in a long time.

In addition to tracks about The Silver Surfer and Moon Knight (whaaa?), day three is dedicated to one of my favorite comic books of the moment, Ms. Marvel. "Marvelous" is Adam WarRock's ode to Pakistani American teenage superhero Kamala Khan, who is just plain awesome. Check it out:

First look at the new Ms. Marvel in action

Marvel Comics' newest superhero is 16-year-old Pakistani American teenager from New Jersey

Marvel Comics shook things up when they announced they were rebooting Ms. Marvel as an all-new superheroine, Kamala Khan, the 16-year-old Muslim American daughter of Pakistani immigrants living in New Jersey. Kamala, the creation of writer G. Willow Wilson, artist Adrian Alphona and editor Sana Amanat, is the first-ever female Muslim title character to get her own monthly book from a mainstream publisher.

The new Ms. Marvel debuts in print and online editions on February 5. This week, WIRED dropped a first look at the new Ms. Marvel in action. Check it out:

Meet Marvel's new Muslim superhero

Ms. Marvel returns as a 16-year-old Muslim American teenage girl from New Jersey.

This is pretty awesome comic book news... Marvel Comics is introducing a new kind of superhero for these modern times -- a reintroduction of Ms. Marvel -- who happens to be an average (albeit super-powered) Muslim American teenage girl: In Marvel Comics, Ms Marvel Returns as Muslim Teen.

This week, Marvel announced a new Ms. Marvel series whose lead character is a superhero of the Islamic faith. Meet Kamala Khan, the 16-year-old daughter of Pakistani immigrants living in Jersey City, and the latest heroine to don the mask of Ms. Marvel. Considering that the previous Ms. Marvel is a buxom, blue-eyed blonde, I'd say this is a fairly significant development.

Kamala, the creation of writer G. Willow Wilson, artist Adrian Alphona and editor Sana Amanat, is the first-ever female Muslim title character to get her own monthly book from a mainstream publisher.
