ann curry's commencement speech gone wrong

Oh, ouch. I love you Ann Curry, but this is pretty friggin' embarrassing. Over the weekend, the Today show news anchor gave the commencement speech at Wheaton College in Massachusetts -- not to be confused with Wheaton College in Illinois... which is exactly what dear Ann did: Ann Curry Talks About Wrong Wheaton College At Commencement Address.
When Ann Curry, news anchor of the Today Show, gave the commencement speech at Wheaton College in Massachusetts last Saturday, she listed several famous graduates -- Wes Craven and Billy Graham among them -- of the wrong Wheaton College.

Curry mistakenly listed the graduates of an evangelical school in Illinois rather than the secular, once all-women college in Massachusetts.

"I am mortified by my mistake, and can only hope the purity of my motive, to find a way to connect with the graduates and to encourage them to a life of service, will allow you to forgive me," Curry said in an open apology letter on Wheaton's web site.
That's just bad Googling. I wonder how long it took for her to realize her mistake. Or who was the embarrassed school official who had to inform her she had just talked about the wrong Wheaton.

The text and video of her speech, posted on the Wheaton College website, have been edited of the mistakes. Curry has since written and posted a letter apologizing for her gaffe: Open letter to the Wheaton community.

To my pals over at Disgrasian, who I know are going to run with this... See, Jen and Diana? Robots make mistakes too! (I still think she's hot.)
