Angry Reader of the Week: Kent Lee

"Asian Americans face endless challenges -- so hopefully we can meet those together rather than alone."

Hey, folks! You know what time it is. Time to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Kent Lee.

Who are you?

My name is Kent Lee, though actually my full name is Kent-Fuh Lee. Parts of my Chinese name translate into "hard-working" and "wealthy" -- traits that are perhaps worthy endeavors but should come with a sense of balance in life as well.

What are you?

I'm a first-generation Chinese American, a serial networker who wants to stay engaged in my community and world, and a proud and loving husband.

Where are you?

I reside in San Diego, CA, where I attended UC San Diego and decided to make this my home for the forseeable future.

Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Southern California -- specifically in the San Gabriel Valley area. In a push for my education, I actually ended up attending high school in Orange County and my family moved to follow. While I always consider the LA/OC area as where I'm from, these days I'm proud to call San Diego my home. Plus, I don't miss the traffic one bit.

What do you do?

Since August 2016, I have served as the Executive Director of Pacific Arts Movement (Pac Arts) - a media arts organization whose mission is to inspire, entertain, and support a more compassionate society. We are the proud presenters of the San Diego Asian Film Festival, host of the "Reel Voices" youth filmmaking education program, and an avid proponent of the arts in the San Diego community. In fact, we're excited to host our 7th Annual Spring Showcase April 20-27 and invite the world to join us!

What are you all about?

Serving our community and world in meaningful ways. Finding ways to help people, to connect people, and to empower people to make a difference. Asian Americans face endless challenges - so hopefully we can meet those together rather than alone.

As Ghandi once famously said, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." It's a fitting motto for life.

What makes you angry?

This week, it's United Airlines... and not because the passenger was Asian American - but rather because he was a human being.

In general though, it's facing the stark reality of our current state of the world. Every day, we see that regardless of how far we've all come, there is always more work to be done to create a more compassionate world for today and for our future.

Oh... and getting sick for the last two weeks. Who has time for that?!
