According to his family, Neng Yang spent four days in the hospital, requiring reconstructive surgery after suffering shattered bones in his face, as well as two broken ribs and bruises on his leg.
The attack happened when he accidentally backed over a dog that ran up to his truck. He says he apologized to the dog's owner and offered to pay for the dog repeatedly, but was knocked out, and when he came to, was covered in blood:
Pashia says by the time her dad was backing up to the dog, the man and his son were in their vehicle, meeting him on the road.29-year-old Scott Osborn is charged with aggravated assault. He claimed that he was afraid Yang was going to hit him, so he struck first. (Take note that Osborn is 6'1" and 250 pounds.) "He got out of the car and apologized to the man," she said. "The man said, 'did you know you ran over my dog? He's a thousand dollars'. Dad said, 'I'm sorry, I'll pay for it, compensate'. My father did see the son in the car and the son was crying and said I'll pay for it."
He says he came to and the man said, let's shake hands and we're cool, now don't do anything stupid.

The sheriff says the man admitted hitting Yang one time, but, Pashia says the injuries are too severe for that to be true. The family says Yang has lived here 30 years and never had a conflict with anyone.
