ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR 2015 AMERICAN COURAGE AWARDS
Advancing Justice | AAJC is now accepting nominations for the 2015 American Courage Award and Distinguished Service Award. With your help, we hope to gather a diverse group of nominees from which to choose the best honorees for each award. Please find nomination instructions below.
2015 NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS
All nominations are due by Friday, February 13, 2015. Please consider the following guidelines when selecting an individual, company, or organization for nomination:
Minimum Criteria for Consideration:
1) An identifiable act or group of acts, which in and by itself/themselves clearly demonstrates an act/s of extraordinary courage or commitment to the cause of civil rights.
2) The act for which the person/group is being nominated must have brought benefits to the Asian American and/or civil rights community in the United States.
3) The person/group must have a strong story.
4) The person/group and their act/acts should be “widely known” within a given region or throughout the country.
5) The person/group representative must be a strong speaker.
The American Courage Award goes to an individual, company, or organization that has shown extraordinary courage or commitment to the cause of civil rights. This may include a corporate leader who has taken an important stand, an activist who overcame extraordinary challenges, an artist with a unique vision, or a journalist breaking an important story.
The Distinguished Service Award acknowledges an individual, group, corporation, or institution who has worked successfully to give voice to the aspirations and challenges facing the Asian American community and has exhibited extraordinary commitment to advocating on behalf of those most vulnerable in their community.
To nominate an individual or organization for an award, complete the online nomination form. All nominations are due by Friday, February 13. Honorees will receive their awards at our 19th annual American Courage Awards reception on the evening of Thursday, October 1, 2015, in Washington, DC.
