Asians behaving badly... firearem-brandishing drunken cop edition. In the Bay Area, a sheriff's deputy was arrested for allegedly brandishing a gun while drunkenly ordering food at a fast food drive-through window.
Deputy brandished gun at Santa Clara drive-through, officials say
33-year-old Santa Clara County sheriff's deputy Benjamin Lee was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence and brandishing a firearm. Why? Why did he pull out his gun?
The drive-through line was apparently taking too long.
Witnesses say that Lee, who was off duty and behind the wheel with two passengers, was in the drive-through lane at a Jack in the Box restaurant in Santa Clara when he became irate about the long wait.
When Lee finally reached the cashier window, he pointed a gun at the clerk and a manager.
Restaurant employees called 911 and officers arrived at the scene while Lee was still waiting for his order. The cops arrived faster than the food! Officers blocked Lee's car, then arrested him and took him to jail.
Lee has reportedly been placed on administrative leave while the sheriff's office carries out an internal investigation into the allegations.
The Deputy Sheriff's Association of Santa Clara County released a statement saying the organization was "saddened" by Lee's arrest, saying that deputy sheriffs are held to a higher standard.
"DUI by anyone is unacceptable; doubly so when it involves a deputy sheriff," association vice president Roger Winslow said in the statement. "We are held to a higher standard and rightly so."
Yes, that higher standard should include not pointing a fucking gun at fast food workers because the drive-through line is moving too slowly for you.
