Soo will play the title role. Based on the hit French romantic comedy, Amélie, A New Musical tells the story of Amelie Poulain, an inquisitive and charmingly shy young woman who turns the streets of Montmartre into a world of her own imagining, while secretly orchestrating moments of joy for those around her.

The 2001 film version of Amelie, starring Audrey Tautou and directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, was nominated for five Academy Awards and remains America's highest-grossing French language film.

Amelie, A New Musical had its world premiere last fall at California's Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Plans are for it to begin a pre-Broadway run in Los Angeles in December before opening next spring in New York.

Soo will reportedly leave Hamilton on July 9. The 26-year-old Juilliard grad joined the production during its second workshop and has been with the show since its sold-out run at the Public Theater and the start of its acclaimed Broadway run last July.
