Angry Reader of the Week: Tung Nguyen

"Ultimately, who I am does not matter -- it is what I do that matters."

Hey, everybody! You know what time it is. It's time to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Tung Nguyen.

Who are you?

I am a refugee, a father, a husband, a child, a Vietnamese American, an Asian American, and former Chair of President Barack Obama's Advisory Commission on AAPIs. But ultimately, who I am does not matter -- it is what I do that matters.

What are you?

I am a trying person in all sense.

Where are you?

I am in the Resistance.

Where are you from?

Geographically, I am from Vietnam and San Francisco. Emotionally, I am from the place where people are excluded because of where they come from, what they look like, what they believe in.

What do you do?

In my day jobs, I am a doctor trying to take care of patients and a researcher trying to reduce health disparities. The rest of the time, I am an advocate. And then I try to get some sleep.

What are you all about?

I probably don't understand this question -- it may be generational or cultural, but I know I am not all about that bass.

What makes you angry?

Metaphorically, people who lock the door after they go through so that others like them cannot get in. Literally, everything the Trump Administration has done to date.
