Angry Reader of the Week: Jesca Prudencio

"I am filled with caffeine, sugar, chili peppers, and passion."

Greetings, good people of the internet. It is time, once again, to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Jesca Prudencio.

Who are you?

I am Jesca Prudencio.
I am a lover, a laugher, a fighter, a Tita, a lumpia-maker, and a director.
I am currently directing Man of God by Anna Moench, a world premiere play at East West Players.
I am filled with caffeine, sugar, chili peppers, and passion.

What are you?

I'm Filipino-American.
I'm the daughter of immigrants, physicians, and musicians.
I'm the middle child.

Where are you?

I'm sitting in traffic on the 5.
I'm splitting my time between San Diego and New York City.
I'm bicoastal. I find a home wherever I make art.

Where are you from?

I grew up in central Pennsylvania suburb surrounded by trees, strip malls, and a huge Filipino community.
I am from the smell of garlic rice sizzling in the morning, my sounds of father playing the piano serenading my mother at 8am, and late night Karaoke.

What do you do?

I direct theater.
I create theatrical events that make people FEEL things.
I craft happenings that bring people together and spark discussion.
I make things that make people go, "oooh, aaaww, mmmm, hahahha... damn."

What are you all about?

I'm all about exploring the grey area. I have strong opinions, but I want to understand the full picture.
I'm all about feeling like a human being and creating from my soul.
I'm all about embracing the body.
I'm all about opening people’s mouths with laughter and shoving the truth down their throat.

What makes you angry?

Assuming
Judging
Hating
Othering
Mansplaining
Bitching
Complaining
Panicking
Gossiping
Wasting
Laziness

Shoulda, coulda, woulda's.
