Kenneth Choi cast as the dad in Kourtney Kang's comedy pilot

Coming-of-age comedy centers on a mixed race family in the suburbs of 1988 Philadelphia.

Cool! Kenneth Choi will star as the dad in NBC's single-camera comedy pilot from Fresh Off the Boat co-executive producer Kourtney Kang and creator/executive producer Nahnatchka Khan.

Kenneth Choi To Star In Kourtney Kang & Nahnatchka Kahn's NBC Comedy Pilot

Written by Kang and based on her life, the coming-of-age comedy centers on a girl named Katie and explores what it's like to grow up as the only girl in the only mixed-race family in the suburbs of 1988 Philadelphia, dealing with real-world issues like race and gender while never losing focus of her life goal: to become a Laker Girl like her idol Paula Abdul. This show already sounds awesome.

Howling Commando Jim Morita returns in 'Agents of SHIELD'

Kenneth Choi reprises his role from 'Captain America: The First Avenger'

Fans of the Marvel movie universe will get a kick out of this... TV Guide has posted a first-look image of at the season two premiere of Agents of SHIELD, and it looks like we'll be seeing Kenneth Choi reprising his role as World War II soldier Jim Morita from Captain America: The First Avenger.

First Look: Haley Atwell's Agent Carter on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The photo features Choi alongside his Captain America cast mates Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter and Neal McDonough as Dum Dum Dugan, in what is likely a 1940s era flashback sequence to beginnings of SHIELD. Morita fought as part of an elite special unit of Allied soldiers called the Howling Commandos.

Kenneth Choi cast in NBC's Ironside pilot

Some more television news... Actor Kenneth Choi has joined the cast of the NBC pilot Ironside, a remake of the old Raymond Burr detective drama that ran from 1967 to 1975: Kenneth Choi Joins NBC Pilot 'Ironside', Erin Pineda Added To Fox's 'Dads.'

The show is about a wheelchair-bound police detective, Robert T. Ironside, played by Blair Underwood. Trivia side note: hardcore fans know that Bruce Lee guest starred on an episode of the original Ironside, "Tagged For Murder," in 1967. Here's a cool vintage video clip of Bruce in action.

Choi is perhaps best known as Jim Morita, one of the Howling Commandos in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger (or maybe you remember him for his awesome William Shatner impression in that one Priceline commercial). In Ironside, he will play Captain Ed Rollins, Ironside's supervisor:

in theaters: kenneth choi in captain america

For those headed to the movie theater this weekend, do note that actor Kenneth Choi is in the big screen movie adaptation of Marvel Comics' star-spangled shield slinger, Captain America: The First Avenger. He plays Nisei soldier Jim Morita, one of the members of the elite American fighting squad, the Howling Commandos.

We first noted that he had briefly made it into the trailer earlier this year. It doesn't look like a very big part, but I've heard he does get a couple of great lines. I'm just glad a big budget comic book movie like this saw fit to include a tip of the hat to World War II's Japanese American heroes, even with just one character.
