Angry Reader of the Week: Ronny Chieng

"Just a guy trying to be better at things."

What is up, my people? It is time, once again, to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Ronny Chieng.

Who are you?

I am Ronny Chieng, a stand up comedian, Correspondent on The Daily Show, and the writer and actor in my own TV show Ronny Chieng: International Student currently airing Wednesdays 9pm on ABC TV in Australia and on Comedy Central in the U.S. later this year. I'm also featuring in the Crazy Rich Asians movie.

What are you?

Just a guy trying to be better at things.

Where are you?

I'm in Singapore right now filming the Crazy Rich Asians movie, but I moved to New York almost two years ago to live and work.

Where are you from?

I was born in Malaysia, moved to New Hampshire when I was 3, moved to Singapore when I was 8, moved to Australia when I was 19, and moved to America when I was 30. So I'm from everywhere and nowhere.

What do you do?

I try to make people laugh without being too hacky.

Specifically, I write and perform live stand up comedy and comedy on television, film and the internet.

What are you all about?

I'm about giving back double the energy I receive from someone, be it positive or negative. I'm about making dope shit and having good taste. I'm about being mature enough to know yourself. I'm about respecting ability. I'm about helping out when you can.

What makes you angry?

People with unqualified opinions talking with authority about things they don't understand.
