They Call Us Bruce 170: They Call Us Partner Track

Jeff Yang and Phil Yu present an unfiltered conversation about what's happening in Asian America.

What's up, podcast listeners? We've got another episode of our podcast They Call Us Bruce. (Almost) each week, my good friend, writer/columnist Jeff Yang and I host an unfiltered conversation about what's happening in Asian America, with a strong focus on media, entertainment and popular culture.

In this episode, we welcome Arden Cho, star of Partner Track, and Helen Wan, author of the original book that inspired the Netflix series. They discuss Helen's real-life career as a corporate attorney that inspired the novel, how Ingrid Yung became Ingrid Yun, and the convergence of timing and talent that finally made this adaptation possible. This episode is paid for by the U.S Department of Health and Human Services. Find boosters near you at vaccines.gov.

Tamlyn Tomita. Arden Cho. Sword Fight. Badass.

Watch a sneak peek clip from MTV's 'Teen Wolf.'

Have you been watching MTV's Teen Wolf? In addition to a lot of young pretty people and dark, shadowy happenings, the hit supernatural drama features one of television's few Asian American families. The cast includes Arden Cho as Kira Yukimura, a foxy (literally) lady, and Tamlyn Tomita and Tom Choi as her parents.

In this sneak peek clip from next week's episode, Kira and her mom engage in a sword fight that nearly goes wrong. Don't ask me why mom and daughter are suddenly dueling in the middle of a high school classroom -- I'm not actually caught up with the current season, so I have no idea what's going on. But it's badass.

It's Arden Cho versus Tamlyn Tomita, swinging sharp blades at each other. That's all you need to know.

In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (CAPE) has launched the second season of the #IAm campaign, a series of mini-documentaries highlighting the inspiring stories of Asian American artists and entertainers.

I had the honor of being part of the 2014 campaign. This year's campaign, sponsored by Verizon, features actors Constance Wu, Arden Cho, Ki Hong Lee and Daniel Dae Kim, musician Jason Chen, lifestyle and fitness guru Cassey Ho, and Seoul Sausage Co. founders Yong Kim, Ted Kim and Chris Oh.

Here's the trailer:

Teen Wolf fans surely already know this, but I just wanted to remind you that season four of MTV's mega-popular supernatural drama premieres tonight, featuring our friend (and former Angry Reader of the Week) Arden Cho in her newly-minted, official series regular status as Kira Yukimura.

Your first look at Arden Cho in Teen Wolf

New cast photo for the upcoming season of MTV's supernatural drama

Yooooo! Check out homegirl Arden Cho looking good in this new promo photo for the upcoming season of MTV's supernatural drama Teen Wolf. She plays Kira Yukimura, the new girl who arrives at Beacon Hills and finds herself "propelled into the world of the supernatural."

I've never seen MTV's Teen Wolf -- my favorite teenage wolf is Michael J. Fox, and this show doesn't look like it has anything to do with werewolves playing basketball -- but I know this show is mad popular. I just might tune in to see our pal Arden. Teen Wolf returns in January and airs Mondays on MTV.

(Thanks, Hannah.)

Foxy Lady: Arden Cho joins the cast of MTV's Teen Wolf

Some cool casting news, particularly because it involves a friend... Looks like actress Arden Cho will star as a significant upcoming new character on the MTV supernatural drama Teen Wolf: Teen Wolf Casting Scoop: Arden Cho Joins Season 3B as Beacon Hills' New Student -- and Threat?!

Arden will be joining the second half of the hit series' third season next year in a "heavy recurring role" for a major, multi-episode arc. Not a lot of specific details about her character, but according to the show's producer, the show's storyline will have "a heavy Asian influence." And that's where Ms. Cho's Korean/Japanese character comes in.

Mandevilla: a short film about domestic violence

I recently heard from filmmaker Andrew Oh, who recently completed a short film, Mandevilla, for the Korean American Family Service Center, Office on Violence Against Women, and the Department of Justice, on the subject of domestic violence in the Korean American community. Take a look:
