Christian Metal Band Demon Hunter Sues Netflix Over 'KPop Demon Hunters'

The Christian metal band Demon Hunters is suing Netflix and AEG Presents over the mega-hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters, for trademark infringement and unfair competition, among other claims. The lawsuit claims that the movie has caused “a substantial likelihood of confusion” and resulted in an “existential crisis” for the band, which holds the "Demon Hunter" trademark in several categories.

"In the lawsuit the band have provided some examples of confusion that already occurred, including an email they received in February from a man asking for a refund after he spent $500 on tickets to their gig for his 5 and 6 year-old daughters in the belief he was buying tickets to see the fictional girl band."

I'm sorry, but mistakenly dropping five hundred bucks on Christian metal band tickets, thinking you're getting Kpop Demon Hunters tickets, is a level of carelessness and laziness that defies trademark infringement.

Calif. Bill Could Create Designation for Asian-Serving Colleges

A bill moving through the California State Assembly would create a new designation for colleges in the state that serve large numbers of Asian American, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander students. Although the bill itself doesn't allocate any money to those institutions, advocates hope that they could eventually use the designation to access funding for initiatives that improve college access, retention and completion.

Aoife Hinds will star in BBC and A24's drama series The Ministry of Time, based on the best-selling debut novel by Kaliane Bradley. The series is set around a newly established government department that gathers 'expats' from across history to test the viability of time-travel. Hinds plays Sophy, who achieves a hard-fought promotion in the civil service, only to learn that her role is to help a time traveller -- Victorian polar explorer Commander Gore -- acclimatize to the modern world as part of a top-secret Ministry program. The Ministiry of Time is currently filming in London.

Starring Stephanie Hsu, Poppy Liu and Andrew Law, DANG! follows a brother and sister duo whose fun, messy lives in New York City are interrupted when their worst nightmare comes true: their high-achieving older sister shows up and wants to hang out with them. DANG! premieres September 8 on Netflix.

'Spider-Man' director found his connection to the world at the movies

Netflix to Adapt K-pop Rom-Com 'Somewhere Only We Know'

Maurene Goo's young adult novel is described as 'Roman Holiday' meets 'Before Sunrise.'

Netflix has picked up the film rights to Maurene Goo's young adult novel Somewhere Only We Know, a romantic comedy set in the world of K-pop. Adapted by writer Lana Cho, the story is described as Roman Holiday meets Before Sunrise, following a massive K-pop star and a tabloid photographer as they wander through the neon streets of Hong Kong, finding both adventure and love.

Suspect Identified in Hate Crime Attack on 92-Year-Old Man

Suspect Identified in Hate Crimes Assault of Elderly Man in Vancouver
Police say they have identified a suspect, based on numerous tips from the public, in the hate-crime assault of a 92-year-old Asian man in Vancouver. No word if an arrest has been made yet. On March 13, the elderly victim, who suffers from severe dementia, wandered into a convenience store and the suspect began yelling racist remarks at him, including comments about COVID-19. Once outside the store, the suspect shoved the man, which caused him to fall and hit his head. The suspect then fled before police arrived. Here's hoping they catch this piece of garbage and nail his ass.

Surprise, Surprise. Trump's New HHS Spokesman Tweeted Racist Shit
And literally nobody is shocked to learn that Michael Caputo, the new spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services, made racist and derogatory comments about Chinese people, among other things, in a series of now-deleted tweets. Caputo, a longtime New York Republican political operative who worked on Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, remarked that "millions of Chinese suck the blood out of rabid bats as an appetizer and eat the ass out of anteaters." He followed up at another user, "Don't you have a bat to eat?" and tweeted at another user, "You're very convincing, Wang." Seems like he'll fit in quite well with this administration.
