Extras needed for 'Go For Broke' film project in Hawaii

442 Origins will tell the story of the 100th / 442nd Regimental Combat Team and Military Intelligence Service.



The 442 Origins series is a Hawaii-based, non-commercial education film project that will tell the complete story of the 100th/442nd Regimental Combat Team and Military Intelligence Service. The first film in the series, Go For Broke, is currently in production in Hawaii, and they are in need of Asian men to be extras in the film.

Go For Broke follows a group of University of Hawaii ROTC students during the tumultuous year after the attack on Pearl Harbor as they navigate wartime Hawaii and fight discrimination by forming the Varsity Victory Volunteers (VVV). The brave actions of these young Japanese Americans, along with the perseverance of the original 100th Infantry Battalion draftees from Hawaii, directly led to the formation of the all-Japanese American fighting unit -- the 442nd -- the most decorated combat unit in American military history.

If you're in Hawaii, they're looking for Asian men, ages 16-30, this Saturday, January 7 at UH Manoa to help create iconic moments from the formation of the 442nd Regimental Combat team. Here's some more info:

Be a background extra in the movie 'Snakehead'

Indie crime thriller needs extras for January 4 shoot in Southern California.



The indie crime thriller Snakehead, currently in production, explores the underworld of international human smuggling. And they are in need of some Asian folks this Wednesday to be background extras!

Written and directed by Evan Jackson Leong (Linsanity), and inspired by true events, the film follows "Sister Tse" (Shuya Chang) as she rises to become one the most notorious human smugglers in FBI history.

On Wednesday, January 4, they'll be shooting a scene in Southern California and will need a lot of folks to serve as background extras. If you're free all day, fit the description, and are interested in helping them out, refer to the instructions below and drop them a line:

Casting Call: 'Ghost in the Shell' remake seeks extras

Whitewashed adaptation starring Scarlett Johansson begins shooting in New Zealand in 2016



Noooooo! As fans may have heard, a live-action Ghost in the Shell remake starring Scarlett Johansson has been in the works. And so, a casting call for extras recently popped up. This thing is really happening.

Based on the manga by Masamune Shirow, Ghost in the Shell follows a Japanese public security agency's hunt for a mysterious hacker. Produced by Avi Arad, Steven Paul and Mark Sourian, with a script by William Wheeler (Hoax, The Reluctant Fundamentalist), the remake will be directed by Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. Scarlett Johansson will presumably pay the role of Major Motoko Kusanagi.

Rachel Bullock Casting posted an open casting call for extras to appear in Dreamworks and Paramount Pictures' live-action adaptation of the manga and anime classic, which is scheduled to begin shooting early next year in Wellington, New Zealand.

The casting call is for people of all ethnicities, age 18 and over.

NBC's 'Chicago PD' is looking for Asian American extras

You can play a gangster, or a sewing shop worker, or a dead body. It's The Chinatown Episode!



TV watchers know it well. Sooner or later, every cop show gets around to doing The Chinatown Episode, in which the show's respective law enforcement team must solve some sort of Asian-themed crime. (It is also known as The Koreatown Episode or The Little Saigon Episode.) And that week, a bunch of Asian Americans actors get some work as guest stars and background extras. It's a time-honored TV tradition.

(The exception is Hawaii Five-0. I'd argue that every episode of Hawaii Five-0 is The Chinatown Episode.)

So it looks like NBC's cop drama Chicago PD is the latest show to take on The Chinatown Episode. I got this casting call passed along to me, seeking Asian American extras in Chicago area for an upcoming shoot. It looks like they need folks to play gangsters, sewing shop workers, grieving mothers, dead bodies, and general background set dressing for Chinatown scenes. They even need a young girl to play a gunshot victim!
