A 2,000-Mile Bike Ride for Citizenship for All

Citizenship for All: Journey to Justice is a 37-day bike trip from Seattle to San Diego.

This summer, get on your bike and join the Dream Riders!

Citizenship for All: Journey to Justice is a 37-day bike trip from Seattle to San Diego, happening August 1 to September 6, and organized by National Korean American Service and Education Consortium (NAKASEC). Dream Riders from all over the country will be riding and making stops in 33 cities to talk about the importance of citizenship for all, and what citizenship means for marginalized communities.

The national Citizenship For All campaign rejects attempts to tear families apart and cut immigration on the backs of undocumented youth, and demands instead a clear pathway to citizenship for all non-citizens who have been denied this opportunity, including undocumented immigrants, temporary protected status recipients, diversity visa holders, and intercountry adoptees. The campaign also believes in a broader definition of "citizenship" that demands equal rights for every member of our society, regardless of their immigration status, race, or any other identity marker.

The border-to-border bike journey will be an opportunity to educate and engage diverse communities about the campaign and offer the opportunity to seed cross-cultural alliances that are critical to building a transformational movement towards justice for all.

Video: Motorist calls woman "Fucking Cambodian n**ger"

Things got real racist real fast on the streets of Sunnyvale.

Protip: If you get the feeling something racist is about to happen, it doesn't hurt to pull out your camera and start recording. This one comes to us from Sunnyvale, California, where a woman recorded a racist encounter with an asshole motorist who called her a "bitch" and a "fucking Cambodian n**ger."

Paula Nuguid says she riding her bike with her 9-year-old daughter, attempting to make a legal left turn, when a man in a Nissan Altima started honking at her and calling her a "bitch." She confronted the man, rolling up to his window and demanding, "How fucking dare you, you entitled white prick?"

"Oh, shut the fuck up," he cleverly retorted.

When Nuguid told him, "I can tell you're not from California," the man responded, "You fucking Cambodian n**ger, get out of here." Aaaaaaand there it is. Smile, asshole. You're about to become internet famous.

Nuguid posted video of the encounter on Facebook, saying "I hope his friends, family, and employer see this."

Fund This: Angie Across America

One woman's quest to cycle 4,233 miles in 40 days

Here's a pretty cool project that could use your crowdfunding support... Angeline Tan, who grew up in Malaysia and currently lives in California, wants to be the first Southeast Asian female to cycle 4,233 miles in 40 days -- a bike trip across the United States. Along the way, she'll search for inspirational stories and food hotspots.

In less than two months from now, she'll embark on a cycling trip across America -- riding over 100 miles every day -- to film a documentary featuring the bike ride, the stunning American landscape, and the interesting people, stories and gastronomic delights she hopes to encounter along the way.

Watch this video for more information about her trip:

Police seek Nissan GT-R driver in fatal Koreatown hit-and-run

Have you seen this car? In Los Angeles, police are searching for the driver of a distinctive Nissan GT-R who is responsible for the hit-and-run death of an elderly bicycle rider in Koreatown earlier this year: Distinctive Nissan GT-R Sought in Fatal Koreatown Hit-&-Run (VIDEO).

LAPD has released dash-cam video footage of the collision, shot from the next lane over, that killed 90-year-old Joo Yoon when he was hit by a dark gray or gun-metal Nissan GT-R while crossing a Koreatown intersection on April 27. The video shows the Nissan hitting Yoon, waiting for a moment on the next block, then driving off:

All Asian cyclists look the same

Oh, the hazards of biking while Asian. Highly amused by this embarrassing incident out of Portland... Last weekend, a bunch of bicycle activists went for a ride across the city to promote better streets. Or something. So what happens when a random Asian dude that nobody knows shows up to participate in the ride?

The cyclists accuse him of being an undercover cop.

Cyclist faces felony manslaughter charges in fatal crash

Revisiting this case... Remember that accident last year in San Francisco, where a speeding bicyclist plowed through a crowded crosswalk and fatally struck an elderly pedestrian? The cyclist will be tried for felony gross vehicular manslaughter: SF bicyclist faces manslaughter trial.

Last week in San Francisco Superior Court, a judge ruled that 36-year-old Chris Bucchere should face the felony charge for the collision that killed 71-year-old Sutchi Hui, who was walking with wife this through the intersection of Castro and Market streets when he was hit in March 2012:
