Is Big Hero 6 Coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Rumor has it, characters from 'Big Hero 6' will make their live-action debut in the MCU.

Big Hero 6 Characters Coming To The MCU
This is an entirely unconfirmed rumor, but according to The DisInsider, characters from Disney's Big Hero 6 will be making their live-action debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Which characters? Hiro Hamada? Baymax, surely. Details are scant, if this is to be believed at all. The 2014 animated feature, loosely based on the Marvel Comics miniseries of the same name, followed the adventures of a high-tech superteam in the hybrid city of San Fransokyo. It was followed by Disney animated series, which recently aired its final episode. Again, this is just a rumor, but it would be cool as hell to see these characters make the leap to live action.

Marvel/Disney's animated superhero squad will make the leap to Disney XD in 2017.

Cool news for fans of Big Hero 6. We will indeed get to see the further adventures of the animated Marvel/Disney superhero squad, but it won't be in a feature film sequel. Big Hero 6 is making a heroic leap to the small screen as an animated TV series, set to premiere on Disney XD sometime in 2017.

The series will pick up right where the hit 2014 movie left off, following the further adventures of teen tech genius Hiro Hamada, his loyal cuddly robot Baymax, and rest of the Big Hero 6 team. Disney World's 'Big Hero 6' meet-and-greet drops Hiro Hamada

Theme park eliminates the only Asian male character from its popular meet-and-greet attraction.

Big Hero 6 fans heading to Walt Disney World hoping to meet and snap a photo with a real-life Baymax and Hiro Hamada are going to be disappointed. The park has dropped Hiro from the meet-and-greet.

The Baymax meet-and-greet moves to Epcot, kicks out pal Hiro

Visitors to The Magic of Disney Animation attraction used to be able meet with Baymax and Hiro, the stars of Marvel/Disney's 2014 animated superhero adventure Big Hero 6, inside a recreation of Hiro's garage workshop. The meet-and-greet has reportedly moved to a new location at Epcot's Character Spot, but now it's just Baymax, the puffy inflatable health robot, greeting guests alone. No more Hiro.

As the Orlando Weekly points out, Hiro was unique in that he was an Asian, male face character -- played by an Asian actor -- with a permanent meet-and-greet location. What a bummer they've booted him.

Here are a couple of videos, shot last year, of Hiro and Baymax in action:

Been seeing this passed around widely... Jin Kim, Character Design Supervisor at Walt Disney Animation Studios, drew this awesome piece featuring Big Hero 6 characters Hiro Hamada and Baymax in an homage to legendary Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki. Fans will immediately recognize the drawing as an iconic allusion to the Studio Ghibli classic My Neighbor Totoro. It's pretty darn wonderful:

Disney does animated Asian Marvel superheroes in Big Hero 6

Disney's first animated Marvel Comics adaptation is based on a superteam of Japanese heroes.

Earlier this year, Walt Disney Animation Studios announced its next big animated feature, Big Hero 6, an Asian-themed action comedy adventure based on the Marvel Comics superteam of the same name.

Set in the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo (yes, a cross between Tokyo and San Francisco), the story follows brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada and his team of first-time crime fighters, who find themselves in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy city.

Over the weekend at the D23 Expo, the studio unveiled some details and footage from Big Hero 6. Here's a very brief bit of first-look footage that gives a feel for the San Fransokyo setting:
