Well, that didn't take long. A week into this shit and we're already talking about internment camps. On Wednesday, a Trump surrogate made the case for creating a federal registry for immigrants from Muslim countries, citing the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II as "precedent."

Carl Higbie, a spokesman for a major pro-Trump super PAC, appeared on Megyn Kelly's Fox News show to argue that a national database of Muslim immigrants would be legal and necessary, reminding everybody that the United States did it before with the Japanese during World War II.

He neglects to mention that it's considered one of the shittiest, darkest moments of trampling civil liberties in our nation's history. "Come on," Kelly prods back. "You're not suggesting that we go back to the days of internment camps? That's the kind of stuff that gets people scared, Carl."

Higbie insists that he's not proposing that at all. "I'm just saying there is precedent for it."

In addition to Ronny Chieng's ferocious segment on The Daily Show, we've now got this awesome woman-on-the-street piece featuring our homegirl Jenny Yang.

Since Bill O'Reilly sent Watters to Chinatown to have some "gentle fun" (also known as racist fuckery) with Chinese Americans, Fusion Comedy sent Jenny to Beverly Hills to have some "gentle fun" with white people.

Thomas ran into the Fox News correspondent on the street. So he told him what was up.



So you've seen that shitty Fox News video of Jesse Watters' racist antics in Chinatown. And you got angry, and said some angry words on the internet. But what would you do if came face to face with Jesse Watters?

That's what happened to Thomas Lai, who saw the video, got angry like the rest of us... then happened to run into Watters on the street on Thursday. Thomas seized the opportunity to cuss him out, calling Watters "a racist piece of shit" and informing him that the "Asian American community fucking hates you."

Best of all, Thomas got the encounter on video and posted it in on Facebook.

The Daily Show's Ronny Chieng rips the shit out of Fox News

"If you’re gonna be racist, at least get your stereotypes right, you ignorant sack of shit."



Soooo... you may have heard of that piece of shit segment on Fox News' O'Reilly Factor, in which unfunny asshole Jesse Watters sauntered into New York City's Chinatown to do "man-on-the-street" interviews and mock the shit out of Asians using every stereotype he could summon in his limited imagination. It's pretty infuriating.

That's why this Daily Show segment, in which correspondent Ronny Chieng rips the absolute shit out of Jesse Watters, is so incredibly satisfying to watch. Chieng tells Watters to "go fuck yourself," and advises him that if he's going to be racist, "at least get your stereotypes right, you ignorant sack of shit."

Chieng then goes to Chinatown himself to have actual conversations with local Asian Americans and seek out their actual opinions and political views on the elections. Instead of, you know, approaching every Asian as a slant-eyed punching bag for tired-ass cheap shot Karate Kid jokes.

Earlier this week, Fox's O'Reilly Factor aired a jaw-droppingly racist segment about Asian Americans as part of its “Watters' World” features. In it, Fox correspondent Jesse Watters traveled to New York City's Chinatown under the auspices of discovering what Asian American voters thought about Donald trump and the presidential election.

Rather than to approach pollsters and researchers who professionally study Asian Americans' and Pacific Islanders' political attitudes — and who released an updated report this week on AAPI opinions, showing low support among AAPIs for the Republican Party and the race-baiting of the Trump campaign — Watters instead went for a man-on-the-street approach.

Actually, correction: Jesse Watters went for a holy-crap-that's-so-racist-man-on-the-street approach. Because, why bother with investigative journalism when you can instead fill five minutes pretending to report about a growing but largely overlooked elecorate by being an offensive, annoying asshole to total strangers?

An open letter regarding the persistent underrepresntation of AAPIs on MSNBC, CNN and FOX News.



A coalition of prominent Asian American and Pacific Islander civic and civil rights organizations has united to deliver an open letter to MSNBC, CNN and Fox News -- the country's three largest providers of cable news -- demanding that the networks address the persistent underrepresentation of the AAPI community in their programming.

The coalition's letter, organized by the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans and Reappropriate, responds to recent incidents that involve news hosts and guests who made disparaging remarks about the AAPI community on air. The letter highlights research by Media Matters that shows that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders make up less than 3% of invited nightly news or Sunday morning political talk show guests, even though AAPIs are nearly 7% of the United States population.

"Networks need to ensure that Asian American and Pacific Islander voices and perspectives are heard and that issues of importance to our communities are discussed," said NCAPA National Director Christopher Kang. "If we are invisible in the media, racial slurs and inaccurate portrayals of AAPIs will persist, but when Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are better represented -- in particular, in the news--it allows for a more diverse understanding across all communities. All Americans -- including AAPIs -- deserve more accurate representation in our media."

Over the weekend, Fox News guest Jonathan Hoenig apologized for comments he made citing the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II as an example of measures that led to the United States winning the war -- an argument he made on Cashin' In in support of the profiling of Muslim Americans today as a measure to combat terrorism.

Hoenig's remarks on the matter are full of all kinds of bullshit, and sparked a fairly fiery response from a number of Asian American and Japanese American politicians and community organizations -- representing the community that, you know, actually had to endure the injustice of internment. Congressman Mike Honda called Hoenig's comments nothing less than "inexcuseabe" and "idiotic and insensitive."

Let's get this out of the way: pretty much everything that airs on Fox News is bullshit. But there's Fox News, and then there's Fox News realllly going for it. Like this recent discussion about the war on terror that included, among other arguments, justification for the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II.

Beckel was discussing a New York Times article that said Chinese hackers broke into the computer networks of a U.S. government agency that houses the personal information of all federal employees.

Bill O'Reilly hilariously accuses others of taking his Asian comments out of context

Boo friggin' hoo, Bill O'Reilly. So after dropping some of his expert knowledge -- in other words, totally uninformed and blatantly ignorant generalizations -- on Asian people and drawing the criticism of community members, lawmakers and of course, Stephen Colbert, The O'Reilly Factor host is now complaining that his comments were taken out of context by Media Matters. Waaaah.

Here's Hawaii congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa, who says O'Reilly owes Hawaiians and Asian Americans an apology, appearing on The O'Reilly Factor to throw down her beef with Bill.

Some follow up on Bill O'Reilly ridiculous comments from last week, when he discussed Hawaii's social ills and acted like he knew a damn thing about Asian people...
