Japanese Americans speak out against Andrew Yang's Op-Ed
Japanese American leaders are criticizing former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang's call to Asian Americans to display patriotism during the coronavirus pandemic, saying it brings back painful memories of the rhetoric directed at Americans of Japanese ancestry who were incarcerated during World War II.

"China Poisoned Our People"
A new campaign ad from Republican congressional candidate Kathaleen Wall, who is running for Texas' 22nd Congressional District, seizes the moment and goes heavy on the anti-China rhetoric. "China poisoned our people," a narrator says in the ad, which then lauds President Donald Trump for calling COVID-19 the "Chinese virus." You can probably expect to see a lot more of this shit pretty soon.

This Christmas, Take a Ride On The Most Racist Bus in Illinois!

"You won't feel like you're in China when you're on our buses."

A transportation company that services the Champaign-Urbana area in Illinois is under fire for a racist, anti-Chinese message included in a promotional email sent out to its mailing list over the weekend.

Suburban Express sends controversial Christmas email

Suburban Express sent an email touting the perks of its Christmas break bus services for University of Illinois students. Among other self-identified selling points, the Surburban Express Experience includes riding with "Passengers like you. You won't feel like you're in China when you're on our buses."

This, of course, refers to the University's large population of international students.

The Nefarious Chinese Are Taking Over American Farms!

...according to this xenophobic Missouri political ad.

Well, this is... unsurprising. We are now in the muckiest thick of election season, so you know what that means. Blame China! For everything. In a fairly typical move out the campaign playbook, this racist, xenophobic, fear-mongering political ad for Missouri's state attorney general race goes there, with America's farms at stake.

The subtitled 30-second spot features a rather nefarious-looking Chinese businessman bragging to another in Mandarin about how he was able to buy a Missouri farm after state senator Kurt Schaefer, a Republican candidate for attorney general, helped changed a state law allowing foreign ownership of farms.

"Now we own thousands of acres in Missouri," the businessman says, arms raised, "and can buy more."

Trump says China is "raping our country."

Of course Donald Trump uses a sexual violence metaphor to discuss trade policy.

At this point, there is pretty much nothing Donald Trump can say that will surprise us. So why should we be surprised that the Republican presidential candidate compared the U.S.'s trade deficit with China to rape?

Trump: 'We can't continue to allow China to rape our country'

"We can't continue to allow China to rape our country, and that's what they're doing," Trump said Sunday during a rally in Indiana, referring to China's high number of exports relative to the United States.

The anti-China rhetoric is not much of a shocker -- this is an election, after all. Xenophobic China-bashing is a major part of the campaign playbook. And everybody knows that Trump loves to talk about China.

Might as well throw a sexual violence metaphor on top of all the fear-mongering.

Dutch pranksters throw baby formula on random Asians

And now, feel the wrath of Chinese netizens.

Some racist bullshit out of the Netherlands, where some YouTubers filmed a prank video in which they throw cans of powdered baby formula over unsuspecting Asian people on the street.

“Racist”: Youths sorry for throwing baby formula at Chinese people

In the video, the young Dutch assholes behind the YouTube channel Vatos Locos Pranks can be seen walking up to Asians on the street in Amsterdam and asking, "Do you want some milk powder?"

He then tosses the entire container full of baby powder on them and runs away.

Hey, Racist Vandal. We fixed it for you.

Community members respond to ant-Chinese graffiti in San Francisco's Portola neighborhood.

Over the weekend, several instances of anti-Chinese graffiti were recently discovered in San Francisco, mostly in the Portola neighborhood. All were done with the same colored spray paint, wording and lettering, by someone declaring the racist message NO MORE CHINESE. Several news outlets have picked up on the story, and the incidents are being investigated by San Francisco Police as vandalism and a hate crime.

With all the negative attention, the city acted relatively fast to remove the offending graffiti from affected surfaces. But not before quite a few concerned citizens took photos, spread the word, and even took upon themselves to add a little subversive flavor of their own to the artist's original message of intolerance. I added my own Photoshop fix -- "KNOW MORE CHINESE" -- to the photo above.

Here are a few more vigilante fixes to the NO MORE CHINESE graffiti:

Who is spray-painting "NO MORE CHINESE" in San Francisco?

Multiple instances of anti-Chinese graffiti found in the Portola neighborhood.

Who the hell is writing "NO MORE CHINESE" on the walls of San Francisco? What is up with this recent spate of racist graffiti? Over the weekend, several people alerted us to multiple instances of anti-Chinese vandalism popping up in the Portola neighborhood -- all declaring NO MORE CHINESE in red spray-paint.

This one was spotted by Vicki S. Chau on 454 University Street, between Bacon and Wayland:

Three minutes of Donald Trump saying the word "China" over and over. Just because.

Carly Fiorina, too, says "industry" of Chinese women giving birth in America is a "festering problem"

Another Republican presidential candidate gets in on this week's China-bashing.

Not content to sit back and let Jeb Bush or Donald Trump have all the Asian-bashing fun, Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina got in on the racist, xenophobic scapegoating with a rather unoriginal rant against the allegedly rampant problem of Chinese women engaging in so-called "birth tourism."

Carly Fiorina rails against 'industry' of Chinese women having US babies

Our nation faces so many problems. Where do we even begin? When in doubt -- and way behind in the polls -- blame the Chinese. On Thursday, Fiorina reiterated rival Jeb Bush's claims about "an industry that has been set up in L.A. where Chinese women come over on a tourist visa and have a baby."

Jeb Bush on Anchor Babies: "Frankly it's more Asian people."

And this is how a presidential candidate throws Asians under the bus. Wow, that was easy.

It has begun. You may have heard the derogatory term "anchor babies" -- yes, shit is derogatory -- being used in discussions about immigration, particularly from the likes of Republican presidential candidates like Donald Trump, et al. who are calling for stricter crack downs on undocumented immigrants who purportedly taking advantage of America's policy of birthright citizenship under the 14th amendment.

Jeb Bush: 'Chill Out' on Criticism of 'Anchor Baby' Term

Criticized for using the term "anchor babies" during a conservative radio interview last week, Florida governor Jeb Bush has doubled down, telling reporters that he does not believe the term is offensive. "Nothing about what I've said should be viewed as derogatory towards immigrants at all," he said Monday in McAllen, Texas. "I think we need to take a step back and chill out a little bit." This is all apparently political correctness run amok.

He clarified further, saying that he used the term "anchor babies" specifically to refer to fraud in a "specific targeted kind of case" involving mothers who travel to the U.S. only to win citizenship for their unborn children.

"Frankly, it's more Asian people."

Got that, folks? In case you were concerned that Jeb Bush was referring to Latinos when talking about "anchor babies" taking advantage of birthright citizenship, don't worry -- he was just talking about Asians.

Carly Fiorina says the Chinese "are not terribly imaginative"

"That's why they're stealing our intellectual property."

Running for public office? First thing you have to do is talk about how awesome America is. A quick and easy way to do that, these days, is to invoke the magic word: China. Specifically, use language pitting Americans agains "the Chinese." Case in point, recent comments by GOP presidential contender Carly Fiorina, who says the Chinese are unimaginative and unable to innovate. "That's why they're stealing our intellectual property."

Carly Fiorina: The Chinese "Can't Innovate, Not Terribly Imaginative, Not Entrepreneurial"

In a video filmed by Iowa political blog Caffeinated Thoughts back in January before Fiorina announced her candidacy, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO explains her opposition to Common Core educational standards, arguing that there is no need for federal benchmarks over concerns that American students are lagging behind Chinese students in science and math.

Why? Because Chinese people lack creativity. "Innovation and entrepreneurship are not their strong suits."

Beware the "Chinamen" learning "how to do computers"

Fox News' Bob Beckel uses racial slur, says the Chinese are the greatest threat to national security

Why would I expect anything but the worst from Fox News? Last week, host Bob Beckel used the slur "Chinamen" -- yes, people, it's a slur -- during a broadcast, in the middle of a xenophobic rant about China.

Bob Beckel Uses Racial Slur On Live Television

On Thursday, during Fox News' The Five, Beckel called China "the single biggest threat to the national security of the United States," launching into a tirade about the imminent threat Chinese hackers. You know. Those hordes of sneaky "chinamen" who come over here and learn "how to do computers" for evil purposes.

Beckel was discussing a New York Times article that said Chinese hackers broke into the computer networks of a U.S. government agency that houses the personal information of all federal employees.

Here's video of Beckel's rant:

White House responds to petition regarding Jimmy Kimmel's "Kill everyone in China" comment

"The comments you are writing about do not reflect mainstream views of China in the United States."

Back in the fall, Jimmy Kimmel Live aired a segment called "Kids Table," in which Jimmy Kimmel sat down with precocious kids to talk about the state of the nation. During the discussion, one of the kids suggested that we "kill everyone in China." The moment made it on the air. It made a lot of people very upset.

The "kill everyone in China" comment went viral, and in addition to protests attended by thousands around the country, someone started a We the People petition calling for the Obama administration to "immediately cut the show and issue a formal apology." Since the petition surpassed 100,000 signatures -- the threshold for an official response -- the White House was compelled to release a statement on the matter.

It's pretty much what you'd expect. The White House response points out that the parties involved have already apologized, the federal government can't force ABC to remove the show, and you know, free speech and stuff:

Thousands gather for protests against Jimmy Kimmel

Chinese American groups demand late night host's firing for "kill everyone in China" remark

Man, this Jimmy Kimmel controversy appears to have some legs. Over the weekend, protestors gathered in cities across the country in response to the late night talk show host's recent segment which jokingly suggested that we "killing everyone in China." On Saturday in Burbank, more than a thousand people picketed ABC's headquarters: Protestors slam Jimmy Kimmel over 'kill everyone in China' joke.

During the "Kids Table" segment, which aired last month, Kimmel gathered a group of children to get their take on politics and the economy. When asked how the United States should deal with its ballooning foreign debt, one of the kids suggested that we should "kill everyone in China." Obviously, it's just a kid being a kid, and kids say crazy things. But critics say the moment was irresponsible and should never have made it on the air.

Both Kimmel and ABC have since apologized for the segment, and quickly removed the clip from all public platforms. But these actions are apparently not enough:

Chinese Cyber Attack! The Movie

Dragon Day attempts to the be thinking man's Red Dawn.

Hey moviegoers! Do you like your movies with a healthy dose of anti-Chinese fearmongering? Bummed that Red Dawn chickened out and turned the movie's Chinese villains into North Korean invaders? Look no further than the indie cyber thriller Dragon Day, where chaos erupts when China comes to collect.

The plot: Duke, an out-of-work NSA engineer, finds his family stuck in a small mountain town the day a devastating cyber-attack destroys the U.S. as we know it. The culprit: China, of course! And get this: every microchip "Made in China" has been infected with a virus that rapidly shuts down all modern technology.

Here's the trailer:

Jimmy Kimmel's Kids Table suggests we "kill everyone in China"

Political panel proposes deadly force to solve U.S. debt

Did Jimmy Kimmel just endorse the genocide of a billion people? Not quite. But Jimmy Kimmel Live did run a segment last week in which a group of kids suggested that we "kill everyone in China." Ha ha ha?

Kimmel recently gathered a group of precocious children for "Kids Table," a very serious, informed political discussion on the state of our nation, including the government shutdown and U.S. debt to China. Among the many thoughtful observations that were put forth, the panelists made the rather aggressive policy suggestions that America should never pay its debts. And we should kill everyone in China:

Kentucky super PAC attacks Elaine Chao with racist tweets

I've got little love for Elaine Chao, but this racist bullshit. In Kentucky, a liberal super PAC is under fire for tweets attacking Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's wife, former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao: Liberal Super PAC Sends Racist Tweet About Mitch McConnell’s Chinese Wife.

McConnell (R-KY) is running for re-election in 2013. Progress Kentucky, a super PAC focused on defeating McConnell, posted multiple tweets highlighting Elaine Chao's Chinese heritage, going as far as blaming her cultural ties for the outsourcing of Kentucky jobs and the growth of industrial China:

campaign flier features candidate's face on chinese food containers

Hey, candidates! Election Day is tomorrow! You've still got plenty of time to get your racist campaign material out there. Here's a candidate who's trying extra hard to go full anti-China on his opponent: Ohio Republican Mailer Features Chinese Food Containers, Chopsticks To Tar Democrat.

As all political campaigns know these days, the best way to demonize your opponent is to paint them as China's best friend. Ohio congressional candidate Rep. Jim Renacci recently sent out a campaign flier prominently featuring illustrated images of opponent Rep. Betty Sutton on a Chinese food take-out container, complete with that stereotypical wonton font.

Yup. This one doesn't win any points for subtlety:

yet another attack ad starring evil greedy china

From Racist Political Ads... Yet another attack ad starring Big Bad China. This one, courtesy of Karl Rove, goes to great lengths to paint President Barack Obama as Evil Greedy China's Best Friend. Hell, it even ends with an image of the President "bowing" to Hu Jintao -- the way we'll all inevitably have to bow to our future Chinese overlords:
