Help Wo Chan and his family fight unjust deportation

Poet and his family were victims of a crooked immigration official's false document scheme.

Queer Fujianese poet, writer, and drag performer Wo Chan and his family are facing deportation in a pretty messed up situation after an immigration official issued them false naturalization documents.

Help Poet Wo Chan & His Family Fight Unjust Deportation

In 2006, Department of Homeland Security supervisor Robert Schofield was convicted of bribery and falsifying immigration documents. Of his nearly 200 victims, all were Asian. Chan's family thought they were lawfully obtaining citizenship, but DHS thinks otherwise. Starting in 2011, his family was stripped of U.S. citizenship and are now subject to deportation proceedings.

In Chan's own words:

Donate to Billy's Medical Fund

Billy, diagnosed with a rare kidney disorder, is asking for donations to support his family.

Spreading the word about a guy who could use your support... Billy was recently diagnosed with FSGS, a rare kidney disorder that has led to stage five kidney disease and end stage renal failure. This means that unless he receives a kidney from a matching donor in the next eight months, his body will shut down. They're looking for possible kidney donors, but Billy is actually asking for donations to support his family.

I don't know him -- this info passed along to me from a reader -- but Billy sounds like the kind of guy who has sacrificed a lot for his family and his community. His friends have set up a Gofundme acount to help him and his family during this time of need. Here's some more information about his situation:

Help support Seattle stabbing victim Kristin Ito

Random stabbing leaves a man dead, woman seriously hurt.

Last Friday in Seattle, a college professor was killed in an apparently unprovoked and random stabbing that also severely injured his partner on their way through Pioneer Square after the couple left a Seattle Sounders soccer game: Man killed, woman seriously hurt in random Seattle stabbing.

Troy Wolff, who taught English at Shoreline Community College, died of multiple stab wounds, while 30-year-old Kristin Ito was hospitalized in serious condition.

The alleged attacker, 44-year-old Donnell Jackson, was described as "operating at a diminished mental capacity." The man reportedly confronted them with a small knife and started stabbing Ito repeatedly, then turned on Wolff when he tried to intervene. He was taken into custody and booked for investigation of murder.

Stuff Asians Suck At: Registering to be a bone marrow donor.

Passing along a message for a friend.

My friend Karin is asking friends to consider signing up to be a potential stem cell donor. Stem cell transplants are used to save the lives of those with aggressive cancer. Her sister Ginny has advanced lymph cancer, and we are searching for a stem cell match for her. The best match will be a Chinese person between 18-45 years old. Most registered donors are European, which puts Asian patients at a disadvantage.

It's simple to sign up. You fill out a form online, and you receive a kit in the mail. Once you sign up, you must be willing to donate, though you can change your mind later for medical or other reasons. If they call you as a potential match, there is additional testing, and if you are approved, they will take stem cells from your blood (not bone marrow). It's a commitment, but it's also the opportunity to save someone's life.

If you would like to register, you can sign up here: http://marrow.org/Join/Join_Now/Join_Now.aspx

Please contact Karin at karinc@gmail.com or (917) 209-9602 if you have any questions. And thank you for considering this request for help.
