Two men sentenced in samurai sword murders

Jae Shim and Steve Kwon killed five people with a baseball bat and samurai sword in 2008.



Last week in Southern California, a man was sentenced to life in prison without parole and a second man was sentenced to 125 years to life for murdering five people with a baseball bat and samurai sword in 2008.

Long Sentences Given to 2 Men in Samurai Sword Killings

46-year-old Jae Shim and 45-year-old Steve Kwon will likely spend the rest of their lives in prison for the "hideous" murders of five people, including two children and a NASA scientist. Shim was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, while Kwon was given 125 years to life.

Shim and Kwon were convicted of the 2008 killings of Shim's ex-wife, 34-year-old Jenny Young Park; her boyfriend, 34-year-old Si Young Yoon; her daughter, 13-year-old Jamie; her son, 11-year-old Justin; and 60-year-old Joseph Ciganek, who was married to Park's cousin.

Hollywood stuntman Steven Ho, whose appearances on Conan are always a blast, was back on the show last night for another round of hilarious, senseless violence. And this time, things got bloody.

Conan Takes A Samurai Sword To The Gut

Over the years, Steven has inflicted all kinds of asskicking on host Conan O'Brien -- punches, groin kicks, head butts, swords, two-by-fours, and more -- for entertainment's sake. For his most recent stunt, Steven stabs Conan in the stomach with a samurai sword. With Conan attached to a "blood" tube, it gets... messy.

This week in unlawful martial arts weapon usage... On Saturday in Santa Ana, California, a man was arrested after allegedly threatening bystanders with samurai swords at a busy shopping center: Santa Ana man arrested on suspicion of wielding samurai swords.

29-year-old Hung Ahn Nguyen was booked on suspicion of possession of illegal swords and assault with a deadly weapon, as well as an outstanding warrant for a narcotics violations.

Santa Ana police responded to a call that a man was swinging samurai-style swords, screaming profanities and threatening bystanders in the parking lot of Arsenio's Mexico Food. When he refused to put the swords down, officers used a taser on him:
