Racist train attack caught on camera

Man calls Asian passenger racial slurs before repeatedly hitting him on a BART train.

Can't a guy just ride the train in peace without being accosted, called racial slurs and getting punched?

In the Bay Area, a man was caught on camera attacking an Asian passenger on a BART train, calling him racial slurs before punching him multiple times. The video, recorded Monday night, has since gone viral.

The assault happened on the Richmond line going south to Fremont around 10:00 PM. A man in a blue shirt boarded the train at the Coliseum station and got into a verbal altercation with another passenger, San Francisco Chronicle as Charles Wu, who was sitting down. According to a witness, the man was saying the n-word repeatedly on the train, and Wu stepped in and told him to stop. Blue shirt apparently didn't like that.

Video of the incident, recorded and posted to social media by fellow passenger Wiseley Wu (no relation), shows the man calling Charles Wu a "Chinese n**ger," among other profanities, and threatening to punch him. Things escalate when he reaches over and hits Wu in the shoulder and head.

His train broke down on the way to his graduation. So subway strangers threw him an impromptu ceremony.

"Thank you guys for coming out today to see my graduation. I appreciate it."

Sometimes, people are great. This week in New York, subway strangers held an impromptu graduation ceremony for a nursing school student who missed his actual grad ceremony due to massive train delays.

Nursing School Student Misses Graduation Due to Train Delay, Has Impromptu Ceremony with Commuters Instead

On Tuesday morning, 22-year-old Jerich Marco Alcantara boarded the packed E train from Queens to Manhattan to attend his graduation at Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing. Unfortunately, the train was stalled by an emergency brake malfunction that kept Jerich and his fellow passengers stuck underground for close to three hours. He wasn't going to make it to his graduation. He was going to miss the whole thing.

Of course, this was a bummer. Standing there on the train, in his full cap and gown, Jerich attempted to alleviate the mood and cracked a joke. He turned to the other passengers in his subway car and said, "Thank you guys for coming out today to see my graduation. I appreciate it."

The people in the car erupted in cheers, and it was on.

"It just kind of snowballed after that." Alcantara told The Washington Post.

Shouty train passenger gets his anti-immigrant rage on

"It's America. Welcome to America. Deodorant! What do you think?"

If you haven't heard, Donald Trump getting elected president appears to have given his supporters carte blanche to say and do whatever the fuck racist shit they want. And there's not much more to that. A recent subway altercation, caught on camera, basically sums up the heightened post-election tension.

As nation seethes, a charged clash on a Metro subway train

On Friday, a man riding on the Metro Green Line in Maryland was caught on cellphone video harassing another man on the crowded train. The unidentified white man demands to know whether the passenger -- who is out of frame but described by other passengers as Southeast Asian in appearance -- about wearing deodorant.

"It's America. Welcome to America," the man yells. "Deodorant! What do you think?"

The 25 Types of People on the Subway

Sleeping Beauty, The Makeup Artist, The Pole Hogger, The Creeper. You've seen them all.

Subway riders, you know what's up. Seasoned straphangers will recognize many of the train folk classified in 25 Types of People on the Subway, a video by Yuena Li. The funny piece of anthropology (and public service) was no doubt inspired by many hours of observation while riding the 7.

My personal favorite is The Pole Hogger. You know what I'm talking about. Take a look:

Man killed after being shoved in front of subway train

Four people -- all of them Asian immigrants -- have been pushed in front of trains in less than two years.

In New York, police are searching for a suspect in connection with a deadly subway attack. On Sunday, a 61-year-old man was killed after being pushed off a Bronx subway platform in front of an oncoming train.

Routine Trip Turns Fatal as a Man Is Pushed in Front of a Subway Train

Wai Kuen Kwok was waiting with his wife at the 167th Street station in the Bronx, on their way to breakfast in Chinatown, when a stranger shoved him from behind onto the subway tracks as a D train pulled in. It was a seemingly random attack -- there were no words exchanged, no struggle, and it doesn't look like an attempted robbery. Kwok was struck and killed by the train as his wife, who was not injured, watched in horror.

The assailant was seen leaving the station just after the attack. According to police, he boarded a BX35 bus and then got off minutes later, entered a bodega and eventually left. Here's surveillance video of the suspect:

Racist attack on Australian train passenger caught on video

Asian woman verbally abused with racist and sexual slurs

I don't know what it is about Australia and racist shit happening on public transportation, but here's another recent incident caught on video, in which an Asian woman is verbally abused with racist and sexual slurs.

Vicious racist attack caught on camera

The incident happened last week on a train in Perth, where an Asian woman was taunted by another woman who got in her face and verbally assaulted her with a tirade of slurs for apparently no reason at all.

Australian woman's racist train rant caught on video

"What's wrong with Hong Kong? Why did you come to this country? This is our country."

This one comes to us from Australia... Tell us how you really feel, lady. In Sydney, a woman on a train was caught on camera unleashing a tirade of slurs and racist abuse at an Asian passenger and her children.

Woman launches racist tirade on packed train

55-year-old Sue Wilkins was caught on cell phone camera video calling an Asian woman a "gook," mocking her accent, pulling her eyes back -- the international symbol for "chink"! -- and questioning why the woman came to "our country." The incident was apparently set off when Wilkins couldn't find a seat on the train, and she insisted a group of children give up their seats for her.

Things got real racist, real fast when a man started filming Wilkins as she phoned police to complain about the children not offering her their seats. As you can see in the video, she goes off:
