Houston Astros' Yuli Gurriel suspended for racist gesture

...but he won't have to sit out the World Series.

If you were watching the World Series on Friday night, yes, that was indeed Yuli Gurriel of the Houston Astros making a racist gesture in reference to an Asian pitcher. For those who didn't catch it, you already know exactly what gesture I'm talking about: the slant eye. And it got him a five-game suspension.

Yuli Gurriel suspended five games, in 2018, for actions in World Series Game 3

During the Game 3 broadcast, cameras caught the Astros first baseman pulling his eyes back and uttering "chinito" while sitting in the Houston dugout. He was clearly referring to Dodgers pitcher Yu Darvish, who is Japanese and Iranian. Gurriel hit a solo home run off Darvish to kick off a four-run rally in the second inning.

Perhaps that was Gurriel's way of celebrating -- the international symbol for "chink." Well, the cameras were watching, the image was zapped across national television, and the outcry was fairly immediate.

Brazilian tennis player fined for making racist gesture

You know exactly what gesture I'm talking about.

A Brazilian tennis player has been fined for making a racist gesture while playing against a Japanese opponent during a Davis Cup match in Osaka. You know exactly what gesture I'm talking about.

Guilherme Clezar: Brazilian tennis player fined for 'offensive' gesture

Brazil's Guilherme Clezar made a gesture during a match against Japan's Yuichi Sugita on Friday. Clezar stretched his eyes in the direction of a line judge after successfully challenging a line call.

Because that was definitely the mature, sportsmanlike thing to do.

Actually, no. Clezar was fined £1,100 (about $1,500 US) by the International Tennis Federation for "unsportsmanlike conduct." Yes, at minimum. I would actually characterize it as "racist as shit."

Smile! Serbian women's volleyball team does the slant-eye

Squad celebrates world championship berth with a good old fashioned racist gesture.

Oh, just some casual racism, courtesy of the Serbian women's volleyball team. Over the weekend, the squad won a match that earned them a spot in the 2018 world championship, to be played in Japan. The ladies celebrated their victory by posing for a group photo while making, naturally, a racist slant-eye gesture.

You know, the international gesture for "chink."

Of course. People can't resist engaging in some good old fashioned Asian mockery. Girls, let's gather 'round for this photo and pull our eyes back like a bunch of racist fuckheads! Well, except for that one player who appears to have her hands pressed together in a shallow bow, trading one racist gesture for another.

Australian woman's racist train rant caught on video

"What's wrong with Hong Kong? Why did you come to this country? This is our country."

This one comes to us from Australia... Tell us how you really feel, lady. In Sydney, a woman on a train was caught on camera unleashing a tirade of slurs and racist abuse at an Asian passenger and her children.

Woman launches racist tirade on packed train

55-year-old Sue Wilkins was caught on cell phone camera video calling an Asian woman a "gook," mocking her accent, pulling her eyes back -- the international symbol for "chink"! -- and questioning why the woman came to "our country." The incident was apparently set off when Wilkins couldn't find a seat on the train, and she insisted a group of children give up their seats for her.

Things got real racist, real fast when a man started filming Wilkins as she phoned police to complain about the children not offering her their seats. As you can see in the video, she goes off:

Why are dumbass people so eager to make this racist gesture?

The timeless, international symbol for "chink"

This is Adriano Jauvel and Or Daniel. They are models or actors or something, and apparently enjoy some degree of celebrity in Israel. (As far as my research indicates, Ms. Daniel appeared on a season of the country's version of Big Brother.) During their recent travels to the Philippines, they decided to commemorate their layover at Seoul Incheon International Airport by taking this hi-larious photo and posting it on Instagram.

According to Facebook, the caption translates to "Trying to blend in with the landscape."

The photo apparently attracted the ire of many angry commenters, to the point that Daniels was compelled to change her Instagram settings to private. But the offending image can still be seen on Facebook.

Celebrity or otherwise, why are dumbass people around the world so eager to make this racist gesture -- the timeless, international symbol for "chink" -- in the presence of Asians?

Marc Marquez, your t-shirt is doing the chink-eye

Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer lets his racist t-shirt do the talking

I do not follow the world of Grand Prix motorcycle racing, so I was unfamiliar with Mr. Marc Marquez until about half an hour ago. But the dude automatically gets on my shit list for wear this racist-ass t-shirt.

Seriously, people really love doing the chink-eye. Remember these guys?

Marquez, a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle champ, tweeted this photo earlier in the day to his Twitter followers (in Spanish): "Special helmet and shirt for a special GP in Japan, at home!!! ;) Do you like?"

Kate Gosselin does the slant eye!

Oh, hell no. Guess who's doing the chink-eye this time? This godawful photo of reality TV mom Kate Gosselin has been making the rounds: Kate Gosselin Appears To Make Racist Gesture In Twitter Photo.

Gosselin burned through her fifteen minutes of fame on the TLC reality television show Jon and Kate Plus 8, which chronicled her and her Korean American now-ex-husband's crazy life as the parents of eight adorable children. That, of course, ended in bitter divorce and tabloid-fueled sadness.

I don't know when this photo of was taken. It recently surfaced on Twitter. You'd think someone who is a mother to eight Asian American children would exercise a little more sensitivity. But there she is in some kind of weird-ass hairpiece, making sweet racist eyes at the camera. You go, Kate.

It's the international gesture for "ching chong." More here: Photo Shows Kate Gosselin Mocking Asians, Sparks New Controversy & Demands For Explanation.

Starbucks labels drinks with the "chink eyes"

Asian customers in Atlanta received racist caricatures on their coffee cups.

Oh, man. Not this again. Recent racist incidents involving employees at Chick-Fil-A ("CHING CHONG") and Papa John's Pizza ("Lady Chinky Eyes") have had me checking my receipts lately. Some ignorant-ass joker could be mocking you right in front of your face. But hey, why use words for your favorite racial slurs when you can draw them?

Last month at a Starbucks Coffee location in Alpharetta, Georgia, two Korean customers -- who are not native English speakers -- discovered that their barista had identified them by drawing "chinky eyes" on their drinks. You know, where they usually write your name? OH NO THEY DIDN'T. Yes, they did.

Here's the photo of their cups:

Chink-Eye Photos: The Week in Review

Oh look, it's Spain's men's basketball team doing the good ol' chink-eye for this ridiculous photo, in honor of their trip to the Beijing Olympics. Slant-eye = Chinese. Get it? Ha ha. What better way to mark the occasion than to potentially offend a billion people? Smart.

But wait, there's more...
