'Fresh Off The Boat' Episode Guide (106-108)

Asian American family sitcom airs Tuesdays at 8:00pm on ABC

Have you been watching Fresh Off The Boat? The very funny sitcom, featuring an Asian American family and inspired by the memoirs of renegade restaurateur/chef Eddie Huang, is a critical hit and has been decently kicking some ass in the ratings. The show airs Tuesday nights at 8:00pm on ABC.

Fresh Off The Boat stars Randall Park as Louis, Constance Wu as Jessica, Hudson Yang as Eddie, Forrest Wheeler as Emery and Ian Chen as Evan. Eddie Huang provides the voice over narration.

If you haven't had a chance to tune in, full previously aired episodes are available for free streaming on the ABC website, as well as Hulu. You can also purchase episodes of Fresh Off The Boat from iTunes.

Somebody got yelled at for this 'Fresh Off The Boat' tweet

Show's official Twitter account posts offensive promotional image.

Who the hell thought this was a good idea? On Thursday, the official Twitter account for the new ABC sitcom Fresh Off The Boat posted a crappy promotional image depicting various people of the world... and their hats. It immediately drew the ire of the internet -- including angry words from Eddie Huang, whose memoir is the inspiration for the comedy, and Jeff Yang, whose son Hudson plays Eddie on the show.

Watch some clips and get ready for 'Fresh Off The Boat'

Asian American family comedy premieres February 10 on ABC.

Getting excited about the upcoming premiere of ABC's Fresh Off The Boat? The hype is growing. You may have heard about that awkward/awesome show panel last week at the Television Critics Association's press tour. You'll probably be seeing more uncomfortable conversations like that in the coming weeks. Good.

The new TV comedy, based on the memoir of the same name by chef/food personality Eddie Huang, stars Randall Park, Constance Wu, Hudson Yang, Forrest Wheeler and Ian Chen, as a Taiwanese American family who move from Washington DC to mostly-white suburban Orlando in pursuit of the American dream.

I've seen the first three episodes of Fresh Off The Boat, and I love it. There's never been anything else like it on TV. I can't wait for you everyone else to see it and join in on the conversation. Also, it's just a lot of fun.

Anyway, here are a handful of show clips plucked from YouTube and social media:

New 'Fresh Off The Boat' Key Art evokes "American Gothic"

New comedy premieres February 4 on ABC

Few works of art evoke "Americana" quite like American Gothic. So it seems fitting and funny that the first major key art for Fresh Off The Boat is an Asian American spin on Grant Wood's classic, oft-parodied painting.

'Fresh Off the Boat' Channels 'American Gothic' in Key Art (Exclusive)

The upcoming ABC comedy, starring Randall Park, Constance Wu and Hudson Yang, is the first Asian American family sitcom on network television in twenty years. Set in the 1990s, and based on the memoir by Eddie Huang, it's a nostalgic look back at one Taiwanese American family's unique pursuit of their own American dream.

Fresh first look at 'Fresh Off the Boat'

Just an ordinary family pursuing the American Dream...

Awwww yeah. Fresh off the news that Fresh Off the Boat has been picked up by ABC for its 2014-15 primetime lineup, here is a video with your first look at the culture shock comedy series, just posted for the network's upfronts. And I think it looks pretty darn promising:

ABC orders 'Fresh Off the Boat' to series

Comedy series, based on Eddie Huang's memoir, stars Randall Park, Constance Wu and Hudson Yang

If you don't keep track of the network TV pilot scorecard, and haven't heard the news... Over the weekend, it was announced that ABC has picked up the comedy series Fresh Off The Boat for its 2014-15 lineup. The order makes it the first network television sitcom in twenty years to feature an Asian American family.

ABC Orders Comedies 'Cristela,' 'Fresh Off the Boat,' Renews 'Last Man Standing'

The half-hour, single-camera comedy, based on the memoir by chef/restaurateur/personality Eddie Huang, is set in 1990s Orlando and follows the misadventures of 12-year-old Eddie and his Taiwanese immigrant family, who experience culture shock when they move from Washington DC to Florida.

Fresh Off the Boat -- there's some confusion over whether the show is going to be called "Fresh Off The Boat" or "Far East Orlando" -- stars Randall Park, Constance Wu, Ian Chen, Forrest Wheeler and Hudson Yang -- our current Angry Reader of the Week -- as the hip-hop-loving young Eddie.

Hudson Yang to star as Eddie Huang in 'Far East Orlando'

ABC comedy pilot based on the memoir 'Fresh Off The Boat'

Holy cow. It's official. Fresh Off The Boat -- now known as Far East Orlando -- has found its kid Eddie Huang... and he happens to be one of our peoples. 10-year-old Hudson Yang, son of Wall Street Journal columnist (and close friend to this blog) Jeff Yang, has been cast in the lead role of the ABC comedy pilot.

Far East Orlando, written and produced by Nahnatchka Khan and based on Eddie Huang's memoir Fresh Off The Boat, follows an Asian American family that moves from multi-ethnic Washington DC to an all-white suburb in Orlando, and the culture shock that ensues. Hudson will play young Eddie, circa 1994.

A network TV show about an Asian American family? So hell yeah, we've been following casting news pretty closely. We learned last month that Randall Park and Constance Wu had been cast as Eddie and his parents, while a casting call was circulated far and wide to find the right boys to play Eddie and his brothers.

From the official release:

Casting Call: Fresh Off the Boat

Do you know any Asian kids who can play the young Eddie Huang?

If you enjoyed chef/restaurateur/provocateur Eddie Huang's memoir Fresh Off the Boat, you'll be pleased to know it's being adapted into an ABC sitcom. But who will play young Eddie? This recently posted casting call is looking for Asian boys, ages 7 to 14, to play Eddie and his younger brothers Freddy and Gary.

Fresh Off the Boat, written and produced by Nahnatchka Khan, is a comedy about an Asian American family that moves from multi-ethnic Washington DC to an all-white suburb in Orlando, and the culture shock that ensues. I know casting has been going on a while, so it looks like they're doing a wider search for the kids.

Here's the casting notice:

Hell Yeah: They're making Eddie Huang's memoir Fresh Off The Boat into a TV show

Nahnatchka Khan will write and produce the comedy for ABC.

Man, this news makes my day. If you enjoy the mad musings of New York chef/restaurateur/provacateur Eddie Huang, you'll be pleased to know that his memoir Fresh Off the Boat is being adapted into a TV sitcom. For real: Nahnatchka Khan Immigrant Family Comedy With Jake Kasdan Lands At ABC As Put Pilot.

Nahnatchka Khan, creator of now-canceled (but very funny) Don't Trust The B--, will write/executive produce the single-camera pilot for ABC. Based on Huang's own childhood, the show will be set in the 1990s and will focus on an immigrant Chinese family that moves to Orlando. (How can you look at that book cover and not laugh?)

I see much potential for hilarity and good stories. The trick will be striking the right balance of nostalgia, immigrant humor and Huang's unmistakably original voice.
