"You Indian piece of shit!" yelled the frat boy.

USC's Student Body President speaks out after racist fraternity house altercation.

Well, school's back in session. This week's edition of racist collegiate idiocy comes from the University of Southern California. Unsurprising bonus: It involves a fraternity. Over the weekend, USC's student body president says she was accosted by someone who shouted at her "You Indian piece of shit!"

The shocking racial epithet hurled at USC's student body president

Rini Sampath, who is Indian American, was walking back from a friend's apartment on Saturday night when someone leaned out of a fraternity house window and shouted, "You Indian piece of shit!" In case there was any doubt that his remarks were directed at Sampath, the unnamed fraternity brother then threw a drink at her.

Sampath, a senior international relations major who serves as president of USC's Undergraduate Student Government, shared the account of what happened to her in a Facebook post. She says that one of the assailant's fraternity brothers began to apologize -- after realizing who she was.

"I couldn't quite figure out why their after-the-fact apologies deepened the wound. But one of my friends explained it to me the best this morning: 'Because now you know, the first thing they see you as is subhuman.'"

Her post goes on to make a public plea for compassion and dialogue on campus.

Five fraternity members face murder charges in hazing death

37 members of Pi Delta Psi will face a range criminal charge in the 2013 death of Michael Deng.

In Pennsylvania, five fraternity members from Baruch College in New York City will face murder charges for their involvement in the death of a freshman during a hazing ritual at a rural retreat in 2013.

5 From Baruch College Face Murder Charges in 2013 Fraternity Hazing

A grand jury recommend that five members of Pi Delta Psi face a range of charges, including third-degree murder, in the death of 19-year-old Chun Hsien "Michael" Deng. A total of 37 members would face a range of criminal charges, including assault, hindering apprehension and hazing in connection with Deng's death.

Deng suffered severe brain trauma while being forced to play a game called "glass ceiling" in an apparent pledge ritual gone wrong during a weekend fraternity retreat to the Poconos in December 2013. To make matters worse, the fraternity members didn't call 911 after Deng was knocked unconscious, and waited hours before someone drove him the hospital.

University of Maryland investigates racist, sexist frat email

"Don't invite any n****r gals or curry monsters or slanted eye chinks, unless they're hot."

In today's edition of Fraternities Being Totally F*cking Awful... The University of Maryland is investigating a 2014 email allegedly sent by a member of Kappa Sigma, using racist and sexist language to refer to Black and Asian women and encouraging fellow members to have sex with women regardless of consent.

UMD Frat Brother Allegedly Sent Racist Email, Signed Off With 'F*** Consent'

The email, dated January 2014 and written to a group of friends in Kappa Sigma, was posted to the internet this week. It includes racial slurs and graphic comments about wanting to have sex during rush week but not wanting to invite women of certain races, "and above else, f---- consent."

Here's the text of the email (as censored by Huffington Post):

Two students charged in Syracuse fraternity hazing incident

Nu Alpha Phi suspended after pledge nearly loses four fingers to severe frostbite.

Come on, people. At Syracuse University, a fraternity has been suspended and two students were arrested and charged in connection with a hazing incident that almost cost a pledge several fingers to severe frostbite.

Syracuse University suspends fraternity over hazing incident

19-year-old Tae Kim and 21-year-old Jeffrey Yam of Nu Alpha Phi, an Asian American-interest fraternity, were charged with misdemeanor first-degree hazing after forcing three pledges to do push-ups, crawl and roll around in the snow without gloves. The exercise was apparently a "punishment" for failure to perform pledge duties.

One of the pledges, a 20-year-old student, suffered severe frostbite and was in danger of losing four fingers -- two fingers on both hands. Thankfully, it now looks like his fingers are going to be okay.

A follow up on this fraternity hazing death case from last December... In Pennsylvania, authorities expect to bring homicide charges against most of the 30 or so Baruch College students who were on the weekend fraternity retreat and involved in the ritual gone wrong that killed a freshman pledge.

Homicide Charges Likely in Baruch College Fraternity Retreat Case

According to the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, which oversaw the investigation of Deng's death, the students will likely be charged with homicide and hazing.

Your "Fiji Islander" party is an insult to actual Fijians

Students protest fraternity's racist theme party at UC Irvine

What is it about frat parties that make college students lose all good sense in their skulls? All right. Go have your party. But did you have to make it a racist theme party? A "Fiji Islander Party," apparently. This community BuzzFeed post describes this recent shit that went down, courtesy of Phi Gamma Delta at UC Irvine:

Phi Gamma Delta @ UC Irvine Hosts Racist Party

"Phi Gamma Delta's official nickname is FIJI. Apparently, this nickname should take precedence over FIJI THE PEOPLE. FIJI THE ETHNICITY. FIJI THE CULTURE."

So this classy gathering happened, and attendees came to party dressed in "Islander" garb -- grass skirts, leis, and, um, general nakedness. Or somebody's lazy approximation of Fiji or whatever the f*ck who cares -- it's an excuse to wear costuuuuuumes! Stereotypes and cultural appropriation, all in the name of getting "shipfaced."

Here's part of a statement from UC Irvine's Asian Pacific Student Association, condemning Phi Gamma Delta's "Fiji Islander Party":

Baruch College hazing death ruled a homicide

19-year-old Michael Deng suffered major head trauma in a fraternity hazing ritual.

The death of a New York City college student who was repeatedly tackled during a fraternity hazing ritual has been declared a homicide -- which could mean possible criminal charges against some of his fraternity brothers.

Baruch College Hazing Death Ruled A Homicide

18-year-old Chun "Michael" Deng, a freshman at Baruch College, suffered major head trauma while participating in an initiation ritual at Pi Delta Psi's fraternity retreat in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains last December.

Deng sustained a fatal brain injury after being tackled during an activity called "The Gauntlet," which required pledges to wear blindfolds and sand-filled packs in the freezing dark. The Luzerne County Coroner's Office has classified the case as a homicide:

Student dies in fraternity hazing ritual

Baruch College freshman Chun Hsien Deng suffered major brain trauma during a pledge "game"

What the hell is "glass ceiling"? A really dangerous hazing game, apparently. And for one fraternity, it's now fatal. Police are investigating the death of a Baruch College student who suffered severe brain trauma while playing the game in an apparent pledge ritual gone wrong during a weekend fraternity retreat.

Baruch College Student Dies in Fraternity Pledge Ritual in Poconos.

19-year-old Chun Hsien "Michael" Deng was one of four pledges participating in the game with members of Pi Delta Psi, an Asian American fraternity. The game, played outside, involves blindfolding a person and placing a heavy item on his back. He has to navigate to someone who is calling for him, and as he makes his way, other try to tackle him. It's unclear how Deng was injured, but I'm going to assume he was tackled hard.

To make matters worse, the fraternity members didn't call 911 after Deng was knocked unconscious, and reportedly waited hours before someone drove him the hospital, located about 30 miles away. He was placed on life support and died on Monday.

UCI Fraternity suspends itself over blackface video

A follow to the blackface video controversy at UC Irvine... Lambda Theta Delta, the Asian American fraternity that sparked outrage over a video of a member performing in blackface, has suspended itself: Lambda Theta Delta, Asian-American Fraternity at UC Irvine, Suspends Itself Over Blackface Video.

In a statement posted on Lambda Theta Delta's Facebook page, the fraternity announced that it will cease all activities and suspend its status as a registered campus organization for one year until fall 2014, citing the "abhorrent, insensitive and highly offensive" video as the reason for its self-sanction.

The fraternity could also face further consequences pending an official University investigation into Lambda's conduct "in several videos involving racial insensitivity and alcohol use." Here's the organization's full statement:

Oh Hell No: Blackface in Asian American fraternity video

This is the kind of stuff that makes me shake my fist at the sky and wonder why the hell I ever bother... Over the years, I've seen an abundance of racist idiocy involving fraternities, from racist ragers to hate attacks. This is not necessarily a frat thing, so much as it is a dumbass-dudes-doing-dumbass-things-together thing. The latest incident comes from UC Irvine, and it involves an Asian American fraternity.

Oh yes, we Asian Americans are most certainly not immune to perpetuating our share of racist ignorance. The brothers of UCI's Lambda Theta Delta recently posted a video (at 0:55), in which a member is seen performing in blackface. Like it ain't no big deal. I don't care about good or bad intentions, or why this video was made -- this is some ignorant shit, and the people responsible need to know it.

Race is Not a Party: Fraternity suspended for "Racist Rager"

An update on what's going down at Duke University, where a fraternity is getting its ass kicked for throwing a racist Asian-themed party over the weekend. The "Racist Rager," as critics are affectionately calling it.

According to Duke's student newspaper, The Chronicle, operations of the Eta Prime chapter of Kappa Sigma have been suspended. The fraternity will undergo an investigation to determine the status of its charter, but all activities and events are now prohibited. That's a start.

Meanwhile, several hundred Duke students gathered Wednesday to protest the Kappa Sigma's party, and the culture of ignorance and discrimination at Duke that allowed it to happen. This wasn't about just one incident:

You were not invited to Kappa Sigma's "Racist Rager."

Sometimes, you just need one guy to say, "Hey, maybe this isn't such a good idea." Alas, nobody in Duke University's Kappa Sigma chapter had that good sense when they threw their Asian-themed "racist rager" last week: Duke Kappa Sigma party ignites firestorm of criticism.

I know. A racist themed frat party -- shocker. Who would do such a thing? The flyer above was made by Asian American students in protest of the party, and all the other racist and sexist marginalization that consistently goes down at Duke and campuses everywhere. No, this is not a new thing.

Here are some more protest flyers, created using Facebook photos from the party, as well as emails that were sent to invitees. Looks like it was a jolly good racist time for all. Well, for all those white kids, I mean:
