Marketing for the new Star Trek movie is now upon us in full force. Here's one of the newly unveiled character posters for Star Trek Beyond, featuring the one and only John Cho as Hikaru Sulu. Make no mistake: this movie is legitimately #StarringJohnCho -- no need to Photoshop his head into this poster.

New 'Fresh Off The Boat' poster parodies "Nighthawks"

Season two's key art is a Taiwanese American take on Edward Hopper's modern masterpiece.



It looks like the Huangs have taken over another classic piece of Americana. ABC just dropped the poster for season two of Fresh Off The Boat, and it's pretty friggin' great. Inspired by another iconic painting -- last season's poster was a fun spin on Grant Wood's American Gothic -- season two's key art is a clever Taiwanese American take on Edward Hopper's oft-parodied modern masterpiece Nighthawks.

See Ki Hong Lee run his ass off again in 'The Scorch Trials'

Ki Hong Lee returns as Minho in 'Maze Runner' sequel, in theaters September 18.



Anybody else really really looking forward to seeing our dude Ki Hong Lee in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials next month? In the follow-up to The Maze Runner, based on the popular young adult science fiction books, Ki Hong reprises his role as Minho, one of the titular maze runners. I knew nothing about these books, but I went to go see the first movie just hoping I wouldn't see Ki Hong killed off. He ended up being a pretty cool character.

According to the official synopsis, in The Scorch Trials, the Gladers face "their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD's vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all."

You don't need to know what any of that means. Just know that Ki Hong Lee is pretty badass as Minho.

AMC releases Comic-Con poster for 'Into the Badlands'

Upcoming genre-bending martial arts series stars Daniel Wu.



In advance of San Diego Comic-Con, AMC recently unveiled some new key art for their upcoming original fall action series Into the Badlands, starring and executive produced by Daniel Wu.

The genre-bending martial arts series, loosely adapted from the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West, follows Sunny, a ruthless, well-trained warrior who embarks on a quest to find enlightenment across a dangerous land controlled by feudal barons. AMC has ordered six one-hour episodes of the series.

National Film Society's long-awaited action/comedy Awesome Asian Bad Guys finally gets its digital release tomorrow, June 23. The movie will be released by FilmBuff on all major video-on-demand platforms including the film's website, powered by VHX, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, iTunes, Vudu and Xbox Video.

Exclusive! Tribute Poster Premiere for 'Man From Reno'

Dave Boyle's neo-noir mystery opens in New York and Los Angeles on March 27



A Japanese crime novelist and a small town sheriff are lured into the same strange murder mystery in director Dave Boyle's engrossing, cross-cultural neo-noir Man From Reno, starring Ayako Fujitani, Pepe Serna and Kazuki Kitamura. The critically acclaimed film opens in New York and Los Angeles on Friday, March 27.

The film is a bit of a departure from Dave's previous work, which include the wacky comedy White On Rice and the black-and-white musical road comedies Surrogate Valentine and Daylight Savings. Here, he jumps genres, taking a completely different turn into moody Hitchcockian suspense, while stay true to his idiosyncratic voice.

New 'Fresh Off The Boat' Key Art evokes "American Gothic"

New comedy premieres February 4 on ABC



Few works of art evoke "Americana" quite like American Gothic. So it seems fitting and funny that the first major key art for Fresh Off The Boat is an Asian American spin on Grant Wood's classic, oft-parodied painting.

The upcoming ABC comedy, starring Randall Park, Constance Wu and Hudson Yang, is the first Asian American family sitcom on network television in twenty years. Set in the 1990s, and based on the memoir by Eddie Huang, it's a nostalgic look back at one Taiwanese American family's unique pursuit of their own American dream.

New York Asian Film Festival Poster Art Show

June 27 - July 10 at the Film Society of Lincoln Center



If you're in New York City, check out this awesome exhibition, the New York Asian Film Festival Poster Art Show, presented by Epic Proportions and Subway Cinema, happening June 27 through July 10 at the Film Society of Lincoln Center, during the 13th annual New York Asian Film Festival.

Curated by artist/designer Jerry Ma, the show will feature original artwork inspired by new and classic Asian films from the lineups of this year's New York Asian Film Festival and the Old School Kung Fu Fest. Participating comic book artists and illustrators include Larry Hama, Bernard Chang, Ken Knudtsen, SooJ Lee & Jef Castro, Glenn Urieta and John Jennings.

The show kicks off with an opening reception on Saturday, June 28. Here are some details:

Western capitalist pigs James Franco and Seth Rogen go to North Korea in the first poster for 'The Interview'

Randall Park stars as North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un


All right... not too sure what to make of this yet. But I knew it was coming. Here's the teaser poster for the upcoming comedy The Interview, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco. The movie also stars our good friend Randall Park... as none other than Kim Jong-Un, dictator of North Korea. Whaaaaaaaaa.

In The Interview, Franco and Rogen play a celebrity talk show host and producer who score the interview of a lifetime with Kim Jong-un. When they are approached by the CIA and asked to kill the North Korean dictator, they become the least qualified men ever to carry out an assassination plot. I'm sure hilarity ensues.

I've been aware of this project for some time, and given the premise, I've been pretty cautious. No doubt, Randall is my dude -- I'm sure he's damn hilarious in this movie -- and I will ride for him all day, every day. There's just an awful lot that can possibly go wrong with something like this. Here's hoping.

The Interview opens in theaters on October 10.

Watch Tze Chun paint posters for Cold Comes the Night

Time-lapse video shows writer/director painting alternative posters for his indie crime thriller



Hey, movie fans. You'll want to know about this. The indie thriller Cold Comes The Night, directed by Tze Chun, and starring Bryan Cranston, Alice Eve and Logan Marshall-Green, opens in theaters this Friday, January 10. It's an awesome, well-acted little crime drama about desperate people in a desperate situation.

So check this... Tze is not only a talented writer and director, he's also a painter. Seriously. He painted a sweet portrait of Ryan Gosling that became the theatrical poster for the 2006 film Half Nelson.

To promote the release of Cold Comes The Night, Tze painted a series of four alternate posters for the film, posted exclusively by Paste. They're pretty badass. To top it all off, here's a really cool time-lapse video of Tze painting the posters, guided with layouts by art director Jeremy Cox:

Undrafted, Unwanted, Unwavering: New Linsanity Movie Poster

Feature documentary opens in theaters on October 4



Check it out... If you haven't marked your calendars yet, Linsanity opens in select theaters on October 4. IndieWire just posted this new theatrical poster featuring your favorite Asian American point guard.

Director Evan Jackson Leong's documentary, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, tells the against-the-odds, zero-to-hero story of Jeremy Lin, culminating with his amazing breakthrough with the New York Knicks -- a moment we all now affectionately refer to as "Linsanity." As readers of this blog know, Jeremy didn't quite come out of nowhere, and this film looks at his family, faith and humble beginnings.

The new Oldboy looks like the old Oldboy, with fewer Asians.

As much you might want to deny it, Spike Lee's Oldboy remake is coming. The movie, starring Josh Brolin and based on Park Chan-wook's 2004 twisted Korean revenge thriller, has a release date, a legit theatrical poster, and now, the freshly released red band trailer. Fans will recognize more than a few hammer-tastic references to the original film:

Kick Ass! Kung Fu Posters from the Stephen Chin Collection, April 18 - August 25

Holy smokes. Last week, I had the pleasure of the attending the opening of Kick Ass! Kung Fu Posters from the Stephen Chin Collection, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences insanely awesome exhibition of martial arts movie posters, from Bruce Lee movies to the some of the most cool, weird and obscure kung flicks of yesteryear. It's running now through August 25 at the Academy Grand Lobby Gallery. If you're in Los Angeles, you've got to check it out.

Wolverine versus lots of Ninja Dudes

The Wolverine follows the further movie adventures of Logan, everybody's favorite admantium-clawed X-Man. And as we've known for a while, it's set in Japan. 20th Century Fox is dropping a bunch of new content this week, including artwork, photos and a trailer. From the looks of things, Logan is going to be raging and killing a lot of Asian dudes in this movie. Check out the ridiculous poster with all the ninjas:

Oh hell no: The Hangover Part III is coming.

As you can see, Ken Jeong returns to settle the score as Mr. Chow in The Hangover III, in theaters this May. And yes, this poster is a parody of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2.

Ben Kingsley is just chillin' as The Mandarin in this character poster for Iron Man 3

Marvel recently released this latest character poster for Iron Man 3, giving us another glimpse at Ben Kingsley as the villainous Mandarin. Forgive me, but he looks kind of like a pseudo-mystical-Asian-fusion-military-guru-guy who having a bit of a mid-life crisis. I do not know what to make of him. Take a look:
