If you're in Los Angeles, and looking for something fun to do this weekend, come out to Pacific Bridge, a free outdoor concert in celebration of Heritage Month. The evening will feature Jhene Aiko, Awkwafina, Tribal Theory, Dumbfoundead, Run River North, Joseph Vincent, and Kevin Oh, and hosted by Jenny Yang.

Southern California indie folk-rockers Run River North recently dropped their official music video for "Run Or Hide," the first single from their upcoming sophomore album Drinking From a Salt Pond. Protip: every proper rock and roll music video needs a little white girl in a dress running in slow motion.

Free outdoor concert on Friday, June 26 in Downtown Los Angeles



If you're in Los Angeles, you're invited to see one of my favorite bands, Run River North, as part of the free outdoor concert series Grand Performances. Come to downtown LA and enjoy the band's wild and warm indie folk sound. It's happening Friday, June 26 at Grand Performances at 350 South Grand Avenue. It looks they're doing a lunchtime show at noon, and then another show in the evening (with The Family Crest) at 8:00pm.

Here's the brand new music video for Run River North's "Monsters Calling Home." If the band had an anthem, this would probably be it. In fact, this is the song they performed the first time I ever heard them -- back in 2011 at Kollaboration, when they were calling themselves "Monsters Calling Home" -- and they instantly became my new favorite band. Great performance. Great song.

Check out one of my favorite bands, Run River North -- self-proclaimed makers of "gangster folk oriental music -- getting profiled on NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly. Get a little glimpse into how the six-member band came together, how they craft their unique sound, and how they're chasing that yo yo guy who defeated them at Kollaboration. Glad they stuck together after that.

A man, a band, and a happy camping trip gone horribly wrong



One of my favorite bands Run River North (you may have first heard of them when they were known as Monsters Calling Home) recently released their new music video for "Fight To Keep," the first single from their upcoming self-titled album. The video features actor/comedian Diedrich Bader and the band on a happy campy trip that quickly turns very dark. It's weird and silly and violently disturbing. Kind of scratching my head over this one. Check it out:

Monsters Calling Home is my new favorite band.

Granted, I have not heard much of their music. But I always walk away from Kollaboration shows feeling like I just discovered my favorite new act I'd never heard of before, and on Saturday night, they wowed the crowd with their raw, understated and heartfelt performance. A little Googling turned up this video of the band performing a tune called "Growing Up":
