The 'Crazy Rich Asians' parodies have begun

"They're just the brokest family in all of San Gabriel Valley."

Well, it was pretty much inevitable. The Crazy Rich Asians parodies have already begun.

I mean, somebody had to do it. First of all, if you haven't seen the hilarious, highly relatable first episode of Will Choi's webseries Crazy Poor Asians, check it out. It's well worth the 40 seconds of your time.

Similarly but differently, check out this video by improv troupe Miss Golightly, also entitled Crazy Poor Asians -- a beat-for-beat parody of the Crazy Rich Asians trailer. It's silly as hell. I don't know why the shot of "Rachel" holding a jar of nuts makes me laugh so much. And Kim Cooper does a pretty mean Awkwafina.

Ki Hong Lee goes full ajumma in Be Funny's 'Seoul Runner'

Korean American actor returns to the motherland in a pama-powered parody of 'Maze Runner'

Maze Runner star Ki Hong Lee recently returned to the motherland and partnered up with Be Funny -- South Korea's answer to Funny or Die -- to reprise his role as Minho alongside Korean pop stars Kangnam and NS-Yoon-G in a comedic pama-powered parody of his hit adventure movie: Seoul Runner.

Fresh from WCKD's grasp, Minho wakes up in yet another strange place; this time in his homeland of Seoul, South Korea. But WCKD is still hot on his trail, so Minho must disguise himself as an 'Ajumma,' a Korean elderly lady. His flashy Ajumma gear will protect him from sun exposure, low blood sugar, and orthopedic strain, but can it protect him from WCKD? "Ajumma is good..."

Lee Byung-hun and Diddy star in 'Rush Hour 4: Face/Off 2'

Two sequels. One movie. Courtesy of Funny or Die.

Lee Byung-hun and Diddy star in Rush Hour 4: Face/Off 2, the most anticipated double-sequel of the blockbuster season! To rescue the Korean ambassador's daughter, Detective Carter and Detective Lee must join forces... and switch faces! Like in Face/Off. Because... well, just because.

Okay, before you freak the frick out about this unholy cinematic union, know that this weirdly hilarious premise is a Funny or Die parody trailer. Hey, might as well combine two spoofs in one. Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker and John Travolta and Nicholas Cage won't know what they're missing.

This family's homemade music video about healthy eating is the lovably dorkiest thing ever

"I LIKE GREEN SHAKES AND I CANNOT LIE."

All right, this is both lovably awesome and pretty much the dorkiest thing I've ever seen.

Meet the Ha family. You could say they are passionate about plant-based diets. So passionate, in fact that Benjamin, Nina, Ashley and Benjamin Jr. -- aka Flexitarian MD, Superha, and The Little Ha Dogs -- put together a super-silly and informative homemade music video parody about healthy eating, to the tune of "Anaconda" and "Baby Got Back." It takes a very special kind of dedication to vegetables to pull this off.

Happy Canada Day from Tess Paras

Music video parody mocks Avril Lavigne's "Hello Kitty"

The music video for "Hello Kitty" was allegedly pop star Avril Lavigne's homage to Japanese pop culture. It was a special kind of awful. As I noted, Gwen Stefani was doing this shit like ten years ago.

Many agreed. Actress Tess Paras, the mastermind behind that brilliant Hollywood-skewering "Royals" parody "Typecast," was inspired to write her own musical homage to Avril Lavigne's home country of Canada -- its celebrities, hobbies, foods, and of course, the national animal, The Beaver.

What better way for us Americans to celebrate July 1 -- Canada Day? Take a look:

"Royals" parody skewers Hollywood's sassy sidekicks of color

"Typecast," written and performed by Tess Paras

If you can handle another take on Lorde's "Royals," check out this funny parody, "Typecast," written and performed by actress Tess Paras. It's a funny lament on the plight of being a performer of color in Hollywood, and enduring the cattle call of auditions for the limited chance to play shining roles like "White Girl's Nerdy Friend," "Oversexed Asian" or "Urban Girls with Flavor." Music Video Parody: "I'm Asian American" by Douglas Kim

Got this passed along to me, found it kind of amusing... Los Angeles-based actor Douglas Kim recently wrote and produced this music video, "I'm Asian American," a parody of Ben Folds' "Rockin the Suburbs." It skewers some popular misperceptions and recent portrayals of Asians in media, alluding to some of the issues and incidents that I've mentioned here on this blog. Check it out:
